everyone for the everyman We need your help to bring the everyman fully back to life. With just a few short months until opening, we need your help to bring the Everyman fully back to life. We are now less than £400,000 away from our fundraising finish line. This is the most important stage as the final balance will make it possible to fit out our community spaces and to establish a Talent Fund to invest in new work and new ideas. The future of this always-pioneering theatre depends on developing the talent of tomorrow. The new building is full of creative spaces where we can continue in this important work and two are particularly special.
THE NEW EVERYMAN IS SUPPORTED BY
10
EV1 is the studio where Young Everyman Playhouse (YEP) and our education and community groups will get their first taste of theatre, find and nurture their own talents and where some will get started on the career path that so many have set out on from Hope Street. The Writers’ Room will provide a workplace, a meeting space, and it will keep our writers at the heart of the Everyman, where they have always belonged. The Talent Fund will dare our artists to work in new ways. We want to bring big ideas to the stage. To expand our stable of artists. To take our programme in bold
new directions. And to help YEP members get their first professional opportunities. We hope you will play your part – either with a one-off gift or by making a regular contribution – to create the next wave of Everyman actors, writers, directors and technicians and ensure a brave and brilliant future for theatre in Liverpool. It’s mid-winter. The roads are icy. The gritting lorries are out in force, the pavements are slippery, and the news broadcasts are full of people telling viewers to “send us your pictures of snow.” Everyone has a cold. The boiler has broken down again and the gas bill is due. The AA are busy advising comedians “not to tour the country unless it is absolutely essential.” Despite all this, Punt and Dennis are Ploughing On Regardless.
Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis first found fame as one half of legendary cult sketch show The Mary Whitehouse Experience. Their brand of sharp satirical comedy can currently be enjoyed on BBC2’s Mock The Week, where Steve is a principal writer and Hugh appears regularly as a guest panellist and The Now Show on BBC Radio 4. “The Kings of satirical comedy” The Guardian

Young technicians, communicators and actors have gone on to employment and specialist training; Young Writers now provide a stepping stone into the industry with graduates securing professional studio productions and receiving nominations for national awards; while Young Producers have launched Scene Change, a regular showcase for new ideas and talent.
In the new Everyman, YEP will have their own home for the first time, right in the heart of the theatre. For the opening season the whole YEP company are collaborating to create a new piece to be staged at the Everyman in April 2014. Full details will be announced in the New Year.

Seating at the new Everyman The new Everyman retains its seats wrapping around the stage on three sides. We have re-introduced the circle level with two rows of seats upstairs (as the theatre looked from 1964-1977) and at stage level, the back row F are taller seats. There are wheelchair spaces at both levels and some seats have moveable armrests. We no longer have benches so everyone should be comfortable and have a great view of the stage from our new seats.
