"Energetic and very funny" The Stage
A riotous new production led by a joyful ensemble of players who will delight with songs, romance and chaos, and hurl Shakespeare's anarchic comedy into the 21st century. Valentine loves Silvia and Proteus loves Julia – but Proteus is fickle and falls for Silvia too. When Valentine plots an elopement, Proteus betrays him and Valentine is banished and joins some outlaws in the forest. What are the chances that he’ll be pursued by Silvia, and Silvia by Proteus, and Proteus by Julia, and that all will be waited upon – after a fashion – by their servants Speed and Launce and even Launce’s dog, Crab? Directed by Everyman & Playhouse Associate Director Nick Bagnall (A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Odyssey: Missing Presumed Dead), this production of The Two Gentleman of Verona is co-produced with Shakespeare’s Globe, and is touring nationally and internationally before coming home to the Everyman in October. Keep up with photos and blogs from the tour on our website everymanplayhouse.com/TwoGentsTour. “A brilliantly accomplished staging” The Telegraph on Dominic Hill’s Crime and Punishment
By Richard Brinsley Sheridan An Everyman & Playhouse, Bristol Old Vic and Citizens Theatre co-production Directed by Dominic Hill
A comedy of love and manners... In the summer streets of Bath, social climber and "pineapple of politeness" Mrs Malaprop is determined to make her niece Lydia Languish a fortuitous match. Lydia, however, fuelled by an excessive indulgence in romantic fiction, has other ideas and plans to fall in love with a penniless man. Enter the inconveniently wealthy Captain Jack Absolute who, in an attempt to fulfil Lydia's romantic ambition and capture her heart, disguises himself as a poor soldier - with hilarious consequences. An elegant comedy of manners, The Rivals was inspired by Sheridan's own romantic entanglements, which fed the gossip-mongers of his day with endless scandal and tittletattle. We’re delighted to once again work in partnership with Bristol Old Vic (The Massive Tragedy of Madame Bovary! and Juno and the Paycock) and Citizens Theatre (Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme and Crime and Punishment) on this co-production which will be brought to life by Citizens Artistic Director Dominic Hill.

A story of strikes, dinner ladies and commies. Crap beer, great beer, burgers and burger slingers. Pickets, placards, friendship, love, history, dreams and above all remembering. Mark returns to where he first performed, a red wooden shed in Wakefield, the labour club, to celebrate its 50th birthday. Part theatre, stand up, journalism, activism, it’s the story of the battle for hope and the survival of a community.

Tony's Last Tape By Andy Barrett
“Warm, sweet and consistently funny” The Observer
Presented by Nottingham Playhouse Theatre Company Directed by Giles Croft Designed by Rachel Jacks Sound & Lighting Designer Martin Curtis
Platform Magazine Following a successful London and Edinburgh Festival run, Nottingham Playhouse's hit drama, starring Philip Bretherton, now embarks on its first tour. Tony Benn sits in a room faced with a collection of recording devices that he has collected over his long and eventful life. He pours himself the first cup of tea of the day, opens a drawer and takes out a pipe. For more than fifty years he has been recording everything that has happened to and around him and, as the years have passed, so the burden of this documentation has grown. And today he has decided to make his last tape.
“Philip Bretherton plays Tony Benn brilliantly” The Public Reviews
This critically acclaimed play examines the struggle of a man who realises that maybe it is time to withdraw from the fight, to let others take over, but just doesn’t quite know how. AGE 14+ @NottmPlayhouse nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk

At the End of Everything Else
“One of the most beautiful shows this season and should not be missed” South London Press
Written, directed and original music by Mark Arends Presented by Make Mend and Do
“I have always wanted that which I cannot have.” When her best friend (a little yellow bird named Tito) goes missing, Icka puts her inventive mind to the test and sets off on a mission over land and sea to save him. But nothing can prepare her for what she finds... a problem that she is unable to fix alone. With the use of Pedal Power, this is a uniquely Carbon Friendly performance inspired by the Pacific Trash Vortex. Performed with puppetry, animation, music and sound (and using only the collective energy of the team on stage to generate all of the power required), At the End of Everything Else is the second show by Mark Arends, writer/director of the award winning Something Very Far Away.

Join the 7m theatregoers worldwide who have experienced “The most brilliantly effective spine-chiller you will ever encounter” Daily Telegraph. Susan Hill’s acclaimed ghost story comes dramatically alive in Stephen Mallatratt’s ingenious stage adaptation. This gripping production, directed by Robin Herford, is a brilliantly successful study in atmosphere, illusion and controlled horror. A lawyer obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a Woman in Black, engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his terrifying story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul. Age 14+ toldbyanidiot.org @toldbyanidiot93
Fusing truth, lies, and fantasy this phantasmagoric adventure is inspired by the search for El Dorado the mythical city where rivers ran with gold. Heads Will Roll draws from a variety of sources including the extraordinary films of Herzog, the magic of Shakespeare's late plays, and one particularly doomed British soap opera. With live music from one of Barcelona's most unique musicians and an international cast, Heads Will Roll continues Told by an Idiot’s journey of creating the unexpected since 1993.

“Everything is faultlessly delivered” All Edinburgh Theatre
Created by Amit Lahav Presented by Gecko Performers Chris Evans, Amit Lahav, Ryen Perkins-Gangnes, François Testory
“Bravery and physical distinctiveness has always distinguished Gecko's work” Lyn Gardner, The Guardian
When the time comes, will anyone really care? Welcome to Gecko’s Institute, where forgotten stories and recycled memories pour out of filing cabinets and endless corridors. Four gripping journeys collide in an extraordinary world of breath-taking movement and exquisite storytelling. Martin longs for one more breath with Margaret. Daniel climbs higher and higher over a towering world but will he fulfil his ambition? Stuck in this beguiling maze of officialdom they lurch from one outrageous task to another, but who is giving the orders? We have plunged into what it means to care. We have spoken to our elders, colleagues and friends, witnessed those on the edges of society, and looked at the world around us. For two years we have honed and crafted Institute; an intimate dissection of the way we nurture and care for ourselves and each other. Join us on a spectacularly inventive and deliciously surprising journey.

A Northern Broadsides & York Theatre Royal production Directed by Barrie Rutter
Cleckleywyke, a town in the West Riding, 1908. The Helliwells, the Parkers and the Soppitts are highly respected pillars of their community… but not for much longer. Married on the same day in the same chapel, they gather to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. The celebrations are short lived when they discover the vicar wasn’t licensed and they are actually not married. In fact, they have been living in sin for 25 years.
“Northern Broadsides have a vigorous aesthetic” The Independent on Sunday
Watch with mounting glee as the pandemonium switches from horrified social embarrassment to the realisation that they are free from the shackles of long tedious marriages. Home truths are dealt, bullies get their retribution and the hen-pecked are hilariously and most satisfyingly liberated. J B Priestley’s heartily entertaining northern comedy plays right into the hands of the remarkable Northern Broadsides - a company celebrated by audiences for its charisma, vitality and relish of language.
