Scheduled to sell in the 2013 Ridgefield Sale, he was selected by Ridgefield Farm as their Braunvieh clean up sire. 200Z is sired by MHF Main Line W974 who was the top-selling bull in the 2010 Midland Bull test sale. His dam WW MS 843U is the leading Braunvieh donor for WW Cattle Co and they have 3 full sisters to 200Z working in their program now. 843U is also the dam of WW Maria 454B who was a highlight and the $8,200.00, second-high-selling female in the 2015 Braunvieh National Sale. Main Line 200Z is moderate-framed, super attractive with a big ribeye and a lots of middle. He is also sound-footed with a super disposition. He has the highest ADG in the sale with a ratio of 143%, and is among the most feed efficient, with a ratio of 122%. The sticking point; he is not registered because he is an embryo calf from a donor cow (even though she is registered) that we failed to get “blood typed,” which is a hard rule of the AAA. That is why there are no EPD’s. Rest assured, however, that you won’t find a better bull in this sale, or anywhere else, to use on your commercial cows.

Residual Feed Intake (RFI) Ridgefield Farm utilizes a GrowSafe System to obtain actual feed intake data across a 70-day test period. RFI is the difference between actual intake and expected intake (calculated based upon the age, size, gain and sex of a given animal utilizing academically accepted metabolic formulas). Cattle consuming less than expected feed are given negative values and those consuming more than expected are given positive values. The RFI data is then used in connection with the current cost of feed to calculate the actual increase or decrease in the cost of feed for each animal during the testing period. In studies conducted by the University of West Virginia and the University of Missouri, heifers were retained from low RFI bulls for two successive generations. Both studies found that these low RFI sired females provided a significant opportunity to increase stocking rates from 12% in lactating cows to 20% for dry ones. Imagine being able to increase your calf crop by a minimum of 12% from the same land. Perhaps the best news is that long-term studies have found no antagonisms to other traits. Under our Bull Deal, we typically offer a premium of at least 6¢ per pound more than markets for similar cattle.

Terms & Conditions Terms of the sale are cash or check with proper identification; settlement must be made sale day and/or before sale cattle are released to buyers. Every lot will be sold to the highest bidder, with the auctioneer settling any bidding disputes.

Guarantees All bulls have received breeding soundness examinations and are sound. All bulls sold herein are guaranteed to be breeders. Replacement, credit, or refunds, will be offered if bulls are certified by a veterinarian to be sterile. Physical damage incurred bull(s) subsequent sale are not covered. The cattle sold in this sale are guaranteed to be free of genetic defects as outlined in the Braunvieh Association of America and the American Angus Association Approved Sale Rules and Regulations, or duly noted by lot number.

Registrations All cattle are registered, unless noted otherwise, or registrations are pending. A certificate of Registry and Transfer will be provided for every registered animal, at no cost to buyer.

Cattle Health The Ridgefield Farm herd is a Certified Level 1 Johne’s-free herd. They have passed breeding soundness exams, including semen tests. Health certification for interstate travel will be available on all lots immediately following the sale.
