All bulls have undergone a complete semen and reproductive examination. They sell as guaranteed breeders. In accordance with the CAA breeders guarantee. Freight on the replacement bull is the responsibility of the buyer. All bulls returned to Bone Creek Ranch for credit must be in good condition. We recommend the buyer consider buying insurance on their purchase. All warranty and responsibility is limited to replacement of the bull in question and is acknowledged by the buyer as a condition of sale and in no way warrants loss of calf crops. Physical injuries and mis-management are the sole responsibility of the buyer. ALL BULLS RETURNING TO BONE CREEK RANCH for care after the sale must be insured. On behalf of the whole family, a huge welcome to all the buyers, bidders and friends to our 30th annual bull sale! Dennis Erickson told me 25 yrs ago that selling bulls has to do with people not bulls. WE ARE SO GREATFUL FOR ALL THE FRIENDS WE HAVE MADE OVER THE YEARS because of this bull business. Our circle of friends would be very small without you people. Thank you. What a journey this has been. I feel we have made progress, sometimes two steps forward and one step back but still in a positive direction. We sort the bulls as if we were using them ourselves. If they aren’t good enough to use then they aren’t good enough to sell. We truly feel we have the best set of bulls to date. There are outstanding bulls in every category right to the end of the book. In our commitment to offer all the raised bulls for sale we are offering a few paired groups in each category where high bidder gets pick and we keep the other one. There is nothing held back. There are a few bulls that we used on our virgin hfrs and will be identified sale day. Our goal at Bone Creek will never change, the continued effort to improve our cow herd. Our focus is on moderate framed cattle which are structurally sound. So many people want bigger bulls and my answer is always I want heavier cattle with more body mass in a moderate frame. When you weigh cattle individually you quickly realize total volume of body out weights frame every time. Moderate cattle finish easier, grade better and produce cows that are more functional. We constantly cull for structural correctness (feet and udders) to improve the cow herd to make it more user friendly. Our focus is on cows that do their own thing. Joni range calves our hfrs on grass. We started this 3 yrs ago to try and improve our sanity and make work easier. You will quickly start paying more attention to bulls and females that do their own thing. Are there wrecks, you bet, but we end up with more live, healthy calves and hfrs that love their babies. There is nothing more natural than a cow calving on a nice warm hillside all by herself. We will not go back to corral calving cows again unless weather is such there are no other options! All calves born with problems calving, calves over 100 lbs are ringed at birth. That way when they look good at branding or weaning the decision was already made. We all love our cows (most days) but will not tolerate problems. Culling cows and bulls is an on going process to constantly improve the herd. Multiple sire fields are the norm here so all the bulls will have been DNA ‘d. Only after undergoing 4 selection sorts, do we then send hair for parentage verification. Therefore, no one gets a free ride because of his sire. They prove their right to stay first.
Ranch...
A NEW CONCEPT- PRIVATE TREATY AUCTION SALE. All the bulls will have a base price posted before sale day on DLMS about 7days in advance. The offering will be sold in groups where the bidder gets to select as many individuals in the group as he or she wants. Then the sale starts again on that group. If no one bids, the remainder of the bulls are offered privately at that price. The base price will reflect fair private treaty value. There are certain outstanding HERD BULL individuals that will sell separately. This will be announced sale day. We are again honoured and pleased to be working with Donnie Peacock as auctioneer and Brent Jensen as ring man. Both are very capable and qualified to offer assistance, an unbiased second opinion on the offering. I am very confident in both guys ability and experience working with breeding stock. We would again like to thank Bridget Andrews for their catalogue and videos which we feel are the best in the industry. Bridgett and Murray Andrews have decades of experience in the seedstock industry raising top notch Herford cattle south of Moose Jaw. Again, this year DLMS crew headed by Mark Shologan will be looking after the internet live bidding. They are true professionals in their field. Our moto is, if they can’t make a positive contribution on our own cows then they are not good enough to sell. Think about it. We don’t know anymore about the cattle business then you do, but we know these bulls. I purchased seedstock as well as raise them. When I entertain buying bulls, I ALWAYS ASK FOR INPUT. Bone Creek Ranch Angus Herd Health Bone Creek Angus has a long history of well-established herd health protocols to ensure their animals have a healthy a start. We are proud to assist such progressive members of the cattle industry with their preventive medical and animal care protocols. These bulls come from a cow herd with a strong focus on prevention vaccination strategies against the common pathogens we see in Canadian cattle. This herd has a solid program in place for prevention of diseases such as IBR and BVD. As both a veterinarian and producer, I consider this the cornerstone of any herd health program. The bulls themselves have been vaccinated with combination viral and bacterial vaccines (Bovishield Gold One shot/Ultrabac 7 somnugen) at branding and weaning as calves. As yearlings they are given foot rot vaccines, Bovishield 5 and Tasvax. Then as long yearlings prior to sale, they are boosted with Bovishield FP5 for added insurance against IBR, BVD, PI3, BRSV and are also given a foot rot vaccine booster. Please refer to the vaccine protocols provided by the ranch for more details on product use and timing. It is our opinion that Bone Creek Ranch Angus is a progressive representative of the cattle industry. They continually produce top quality seed stock through advanced genetic selection along with good management and preventive practices. Lot 1 Big powerful Red bull here backed by proven genetics for longevity. Old 2394Z was a home raised herd sire. He bred heifers and cows until 8 years old and we made the decision to part with him last year due to a throat abscess. Had that not happened, we probably would have turned out the old bugger for another year as he was still quite agile for his age. 0109H is a very solid, all-around sound bull with great females behind him on both the maternal and paternal side. Dam 5474 is up in our group of cows that get fed up on top the bench and she is in good shape, and she also has a really nice udder and good feet. She is a larger framed cow, long bodied, and very feminine headed. You won’t go wrong if you go home with this guy, 0109H. He will last forever!

He is exciting to look at! He is a very stylish bull, well-muscled from head to toe, with a long, thick body. A few newer genetic lines in 0561H. Sire 17E was purchased from Flying K Ranch for 13,000. The sire group behind 17E have done very well in the industry. We purchased another BOSS herd sire from Hawkeye Ranching last year and we are very happy with how he has turned out. They are extremely easy fleshing, easy moving cattle and very good footed. Meat machine! Loads of muscle coming from this guy! Another son out of our old herd sire 2394. Dam 4379 was one of those fancy looking cows who always had a nice calf. Very consistent producer! Low birth and yet look how much performance 0189 has!

If you want a docile bull, this is your guy! Very good temperament! When we hauled the bulls home to the main ranch, 0161 came off the truck open for scratches not thinking twice about all the confusion that was happening around him. Aside from being very cool headed, he has great feet and an overall nice structure and muscle pattern. He has lost his bloom due to riding and fightingbut he is #4 for a reason. We had to pull him out of the pen. Dam, 4293, has some black genetics behind her, so you get a small taste of our Blackman genetics in there too! 4293 mothered a big powerful hybrid bull in last year’s sale. This bull is exceptionally thick throughout his flank, with a wide top and loads of muscle in between. Good temperament on this guy! He’s got that cherry red color that everyone likes! Dam is very easy fleshing, moderate, good udder, nice temperament. The kind of cow we all want to own. Bought her out of Vikse’s dispersal. She has a barn burner of a son for next year. Sired by Cockburn Assassin (sold for $70,000 as a yearling); Assassin sons have been used successfully on heifers. Don’t miss this guy!

Bone Creek R Sire 330A was a really nice Ole Oscar son we purchased from Y Coulee back as a 2 year old. His pedigree has proven to have exceptionally low birth weights, without sacrificing performance. 330A was a pleasure to work- great temperament (loading in a trailer on the main road). You know how some old bulls can get when you have to pull them from the cows or move them by themselves- he was great. We had him until 7 years old when he got stifled and had to go. In the meantime, he gave us quite a few really nice, sound sons and daughters who were almost always dark, very moderate framed (we like that), thick bodied, and sound footed. We have 3 sons on offer from him this year, 2 purebreds and 1 hybrid. All very moderate, dark, muscular bulls with low birthweights.

Another great son out of the old sire 5292! Near the top of the Red Angus offering for WDA; this guy has tons of growth and fleshing ability! Just look at how well he is put together structurally! 6417 is a good producing young female in our herd who unfortunately has no papers. Here is a nice heifer bull prospect with some power and growth behind him. Out of a first calf heifer, and a proven heifer bull herd sire we purchased from Lauron Angus. 79 lbs, 43 cm scrotal and parent verified (if you wanted to register calves off him). 0179 is the definition of thick and stout! Add on the length of body, and the ability to travel fluently and you have the complete package! His grand dam 3478 is still here and has produced some bull calves in previous years. We don’t keep bull calves out of cows that aren’t worthy! 5294 has been a great working sire for us; we have had lots of calves out of him, both sale bulls and daughters retained in herd.

This guy has fantastic hair! 0553 is very moderate framed, super long, wide hipped, dark red, with lots of natural muscle. 0553 is an eye catcher in the pen. He has that proud “herd bull” look! This is 7591’s second calf; her first was also a sale bull in last years sale. Sire 676D was purchased from Topham Red Angus in 2018 as their high seller. He was awesome! Unfortunately we lost the sire because he got buried in a snow bank up on the bench and was not found until almost June. It was such a shame because he looked great and had good feet and left us some really nice calves.

This guy has an interesting pedigree. Both parents are black angus bloodlines. A few generations back on the maternal side is Red. I guess that’s how he popped out red. Aside from some different genetics, this guy is very eye appealing. His muscle pattern is so smooth throughout his whole body. Masculine, yet smooth. Dark color, and great disposition. Dam 5004 is a very eye appealing female, with lots of fleshing ability and hind quarter.

Packed with hair, muscle, athleticism, masculinity and structural correctness! 921H’s granddam, 140W was here until ripe old age. She typically added a little frame to her calves, but they were also packing the lbs! Sire 396E is definitely my favorite hybrid herd sires. I am thinking we need to sort him some specific elite cows for next season. Really happy with how many cows he breeds, and how nice the calves are with low birth to top it offHe is a big powerful bull! 921H would be best suited in an environment with a few animals for company.

If you’re looking for a meat bull that will add a bit more Simmental into your calves have a look at this guy! ¾ Simmental, and he looks the part. Dam 5470 is actually dark red- looks straight angus but she is ½ and ½. She is sired by a Simmental bull we had for a long time and got some great sons and daughters out of: Identity 84Z. 84Z was very clean fronted, dark red, large framed, and good footed. He left his mark here and really threw some nice females. Lot 44, 47, 55, and 108 all go back to his bloodline on the maternal side.

She had twin bull calves both 88 lbs and raised them by herself with the rest of the herd. If the other twin wouldn’t have hurt his foot as a calf in the feedlot, he would have been here today too. Both calves were soggy made, and easy doing animals. 112B has given me a couple daughters so far and both are in my herd and have good udders and feet. They are great mothers. 112B is a very easy doing cow; one of the fleshier females in my herd this winter even after raising twins.

If you have large framed cows and are looking to bring them down a bit and add thickness and lbs- here is your bull! This guy is a TANK. He stands out from his peers with how tanky and moderately framed he is. Sire of 0515 was purchased from Stauffer’s the same time our sire 71E was. Both are half-brothers. 3E added a hair more frame then 71E, but the quality was the same. We lost 3E recently due to an injury(2021), so there won’t be many opportunities to get a bull of out him. 0515 is extremely long, deep through the heart girth with lots of capacity. Dam 2068 is phenotypically one of the most beautiful black cows I have in my herd (Joni). She is exactly what I want my cows to look like. Moderate framed, but long and deep, with a good udder and foot (and obviously throws good calves consistently!) I have 5 daughters off this old cow INCLUDING the dam to lot 83. She’s a good one!

0015 has had an unfair disadvantage compared to his peers. When we hauled the bulls home from maple creek the boys were picking on him so he can’t be compared the same. Make no mistake, the mother to this bull IS one of my favorite cows. She an X(2010 model) and she’s at home fat and sassy and looks perfect. She does not look her age!
