Freight on the replacement bull is the responsibility of the buyer. All bulls returned to Bone Creek Ranch for credit must be in good condition. We recommend the buyer consider buying insurance on their purchase. All warranty and responsibility is limited to replacement of the bull in question and is acknowledged by the buyer as a condition of sale and in no way warrants loss of calf crops. On behalf of the entire family, a huge welcome and thanks to all the buyers, bidders, and friends who helped us in the last 27 years. Time passes so quickly and I feel we (all of us in agriculture) are very fortunate to be involved in agriculture. We are all living the dream and so lucky to be involved in our passion of doing something we all love and cherish. I talked to so many people who can’t wait to retire and do what they have always dreamed of. I can’t relate, and I am sure you all feel the same as we do because it is who we are. The passion we in agriculture have towards nature and caring for our crops and livestock is truly a task we all take very seriously. We do what we do, not for the money, rather the feeling we take pride in; caring for nature and helping to feed the people of the world. The family farm is a cherished feeling we all have a big hats off and salute to everyone in agriculture. 2018 was a challenge to say the least! Personally, 2018 will go down in my record book as a continued uphill battle. We have all put our heads down and ass up and plowed forward. I have so much respect for everyone in business after battling through 2018. We are all better, stronger, and more determined then ever. I hope the people of the world recognize and appreciate the battle that is undertaken by everyone to put food on the shelf. I am so proud to be on that TEAM and salute everyone in agriculture. Our goal at Bone Creek has never changed; the continued effort to produce and improve our cow herd. The more functional our females become, the easier and more fun our lives (and ranching in general) become. We want live calves that get up and suck, that are mothered by good uddered, easy-doing mothers. We select within that maternal gene pool for performance and carcass traits. We always follow the cows! Joni sorts the female replacements. Our ranch focus is on producing females that are low maintenance and last. Our main concern is udders. We select replacement hfrs that are mothered by sound functional cows within our herd; cows that calve with no assistance, good tempered, that produce quality saleable calves every year. For the past several years, we have been running almost all multiple sire breeding fields. This means, we sort our cows based on breed, color, quality and age. We rely on DNA tests to determine the sire and this usually happens after calves are weaned.

When we select our replacement hfr and bull calves the sires are unknown. Therefore we are basing our decisions on performance, overall quality and their mothers. This is how you find out what sires rise above the rest on a totally unbiased selection process. No calf gets a free ride because of its parentage. They must perform and develop on their own merits to be kept as replacement males or females. It’s amazing when you DNA how few calves some bulls sire as compared to other bulls in the group. We raise our cattle just as you do, commercial range operated ranch. If cattle work in our harsh environment, they will work anywhere.
A NEW CONCEPT – PRIVATE TREATY AUCTION SALE We thought about selling private treaty, but who gets first pick. After 27 years we have made many lifelong friendships and I am not about to sacrifice a friendship over a bull! Therefore all the bulls will be given a base price which will be posted on livestockplus.ca about 10 days before the sale. The bidding will start at the base price; if no one bids the bull is for sale after the sale at the base price. The base price will reflect a fair value that we will either use these bulls in our operation or offer for sale. We are again honoured and please to be working with Donnie Peacock as the auctioneer. Donnie brings decades of cattle experience and is available to give an unbiased honest assessment of the offering. This is our 5th year with Bridget Andrews and Chris Moulding at Livestock Plus.ca. Bridget, with a P.B. Herford background brings decades of experience to the bull business. Chris is certainly a professional when it comes to the electronics side of the operation. Thanks Donnie, Bridget and Chris for your help and dedication with this endeavour. The 2019 offering of bulls is the most uniform and strongest set to date. This year also offers a small select group of purebred Simmental bulls (red, muscular, maternal, and good tempered best describe this group).

Long YearlingBull Sale SIGHT UNSEEN OPTION
Bone Creek Angus has a long history of well-established herd health protocols to ensure their animals have a healthy a start. We are proud to assist such progressive members of the cattle industry with their preventive medical and animal care protocols.
We would be more than honoured and willing to help with your selection process to make sure the right bull is supplied to meet your target goals. We will discuss the offering with you and represent your interest in a confidential and private matter. Upon delivery if the bulls meet with your satisfaction, then you pay for the bull. If for whatever reason the bull does not suit he will be loaded on the trailer and no questions asked. Understand the onus is upon us to make sure the order is filled properly and if not we will use the bull in our operation. We are certainly very familiar with the offering and can add some helpful input into your selection.
These bulls come from a cow herd with a strong focus on prevention vaccination strategies against the common pathogens we see in Canadian cattle. This herd has a solid program in place for prevention of diseases suchas IBR and BVD. As both a veterinarian and producer, I consider this the cornerstone of any herd health program. The bulls themselves have been vaccinated with combination viral and bacterial vaccines (Bovishield Gold One shot/Ultrabac 7 somnugen) at branding and weaning as calves. As yearlings they are given foot rot vaccines,Bovishield 5 and Tasvax. Then as long yearlings prior tosale, they are boosted with Bovishield FP5 for added insurance against IBR, BVD, PI3, BRSV and are also given a foot rot vaccine booster.
4-H SUPPORT
We certainly are interested and willing to support 4-H beef projects. If you buy a bull at our sale and have children in beef 4-H then let us know, send a picture if possible and we will donate $500.00/child to a max of two children per family as our way of expressing our gratitude for your support and in turn support your 4H children.
Please refer to the vaccine protocols provided by the ranch for more details on product use and timing. It is our opinion that Bone Creek Ranch Angus is a progressive representative of the cattle industry. TGA 7395E is one of two of the last sons out of the sire RAFTER S HESSTON 92A- a bull we purchased from Stauffer ranches for $16,000. Last year, we had a nice set of sons out of this sire. Dam 8131 is mother to one of our influential herd sires, 0022, that we had until 8 years old. She is a large framed direct Blackman daughter with a perfect udder and perfect feet. We have two of her daughters in herd and another replacement heifer on the way. She is a very solid, consistent female and always has a good one.

JA 7014E comes from a very consistent cow who has produced several sale bulls for me in the past. Dam, X90, is a deep, quiet, good footed and good uddered cow that is one of the top three Black Angus cows in my herd. I used 7014E as a yearling on 20 of my own cows this summer. His sire, 4275B, is a home raised son out of another elite cow in my herd. He is a powerful Blackman grandson and has proven to throw good footed, thick bodied, consistent quality calves.

Papers Pending. STOUT! 7111 is as wide as he is tall! Muscle, bone, and thick throughout- this guy is a tank! His dam is very moderate with a great udder. Final Answer adds more pounds to this guy without more frame. If you need to bring the frame size down a bit, and add some thickness and lbs- 7111 is definitely a prospect!

This bull, 7140E, comes from a great cow. She is easy fleshing, thick and feminine, and her udder is perfect. Dam 1113, has two daughters in the herd (one is red), and has mothered three salable bulls to date. Grand dam, 7331 is still in the herd raising calves and she will be 12 years old this year and looks great! 7140E is a larger framed, easy moving bull with a nice muscle pattern and solid cow family behind him.

She is just a small framed cow that raises calves half her size every year. She has great feet and a nice small udder. Another cow that has a top (black) replacement heifer for next year.

Sire 348A was purchased from Lazy RC in 2015 and has proven himself as a heifer bull. Dam, 5070, is a daughter off of an Identity son (84Z) that we have used for years. This Simmental sire has given us several sale bulls and quality daughters. His daughters have a lot of style, and good udders.

She was a deep barreled small frame cow. 18E comes from a great cow that was genetically very sound and will prove to carry those genes to his heifer calves. He is dark red, moderate framed, very smooth and long bodied. 18E would work well on heifers. His sire is a heifer bull himself.
