THORSBY STOCK YARDS
THORSBY, ALBERTA
Welcome to Transcon’s 7th Annual Next Step Simmental Bull Sale. Join us at Thorsby Stockyards for a complimentary presale lunch and view this outstanding set of bulls.
This will be the largest set of bulls to date in Next Step, with quality that supersedes any previous sales. We have seen bulls sell across Canada and into the northern US, the quality of bulls on offer will create a stir.
KZ Simmentals have put together an exceptional group of Black and Red bulls this year, with a great variety of power and calving ease to choose from. This group was very strong structured and hairy with excellent muscle shape and I suspect they will push the scale down as well. You can step into some serious consistency with the 3 flushmates by McDavid, they are very balanced and sound power bulls.
Lyle and Pam of Langer Fleckvieh Simmentals are very well known in the Simmental world for the powerful Fleckvieh genetics they produce.
Check out the flush brothers by Rumble, they are hairy and stout out of a truly elite cow “Virginia Zalenka”. This group will have many polled bulls and a few great heifer bull prospects as well.
Diamond B Simmentals have a small herd of cows and they always produce some outstanding powerful bulls. Sunrise Pillar has produced some of the most powerful, long bodied bulls that hit the market each year, and he has done it again this year. If you are after a super long, heavy muscled, powerful red bull, check out lot 21 he is impressive. Barry and Cindy pride themselves on raising cattle with loads of muscle and shape that pack that little extra power punch.
Century Simmentals have added fall calving to the program so you will find some bulls that have more growth and maturity mixed in this group. I feel there are a couple heifer bull prospects that will see some serious attention as well. Jesse brings his bulls along at a modest level, years in the commercial industry has him diligently focused on longevity.
Nolara Farms has a strong set of bulls with a great mix of genetics. There are a couple red power bulls and some very intriguing calving ease bulls by Epic. Included in the pen are five solid fleck bulls that should get some attention.
Masterloc Simmentals has a unique set of coming 2 yr old bulls. These April/May bulls should be highly sought after, great colour, polled and have that extra maturity to go out into larger groups of cows. This is a strong group of Rugged R Bordeaux sons on offer.
Ryan has his most powerful set of bulls to date, great coloured and thick made set of fleck bulls.
New to the sale this year is Skyline Simmentals. Amanda has 3 soft made soggy black bulls on offer.
Hope to see you in Thorsby for this outstanding Bull sale. If you are unable to attend, please give any of the Transcon Team a call.
See You Sale Day!

Welcome to the 7th annual Next Step bull sale.
First, I would like to thank my past buyers for all their support. I’m excited about the twelve head I am bringing to town this year. My belief in the cattle industry is to raise cattle that come out with ease and have lots of growth, because we get paid by the pound. I run 50 registered purebred Simmentals, as well as a few commercial cows. When choosing my bulls I cull extremely hard for disposition, feet, structure and muscle. I believe this is my strongest set of bulls to date and am excited to see what they can do for their new owners. I’m looking forward to seeing you at the Thorsby stock yards on March 6, 2025.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call anytime or feel free to stop in. Kreo, Chelsea & Keely
HOMO POLLED
Kasper has been a personal favorite since birth. He has always had the herd bull presence and checks all the boxes being extremely thick made and as long as a freight train. Having a thick coat of hair, great disposition, and being my heaviest at both weaning and yearling weight time. I consider his dam to be the best cow in my herd having a picture-perfect udder and feet, and always raising top end calves. She is now a donor cow that I plan to build my herd around. He has a full brother working for Cletus Sehn at the Lacombe Research station that I have heard nothing but good feedback on. I plan to draw semen on him for in herd use at the buyer’s convenience.
These three full brothers have all been very impressive since birth. They are very thick topped, deep muscled with excellent hair and good disposition. In my opinion they are true power bulls that will add extra pounds to your calves in the fall. Their dam has an awesome udder and knows how to raise the good ones. I have used Mcdavid lots in my AI program and the females are extremely good with beautiful udders and always raising a top end calf. I am certain they will have a lot of visitors come sale day. I’m hoping to draw semen on one of these bulls for in herd use semen at the buyer’s convenience.

Mid-February born bull that has extra frame but yet still has adequate muscling. He is very athletic with good feet and will cover ground to get the cows bred. In my opinion he would work excellent on a lower set of cows to add stretch and length. His dam has been a very productive cow for me being a heavy milking ETZ 4W daughter. She is also the grandam to my Epic 91M bull and has a son working for Bo and Shelby Fortin.

A very good moderate birth weight Epic son. He has all the bells and whistles, is smooth made, thick quartered with lots of capacity, style and eye appeal. He has been at the top of the pen for weaning and yearling weights. I have used Epic successfully in the heifer pen the last few years being extremely happy with the growth he gives and leaving a great set of females to put in the replacement pen as well. His hard-working young dam has a nice tight udder and raising a bull of this quality has me excited for her future..

Welcome to the 7th Annual Next Step Bull sale.We would like to Thank our past and present buyers for adding a LFS herdsire to your program. Please extend a warm welcome to Amanda Steffler with Skyline Simmentals to the sale
This year we are offering 3 herdsires from our transplant program along with some low birth weight and performance bulls that we feel confident they will make a difference in your herd. The bulls are on a strict herd health program and will have their fuso guard (foot rot) vaccine before sale day
We look forward to seeing you at the sale !
100% Full Fleckvieh
We split a flush with John Beechinor, resulting in these two embryo transplant bulls. Zelenka was one of the most impressive and complete cows to graze our pastures and Rumble being the highest selling Fleckvieh Fullblood ever you could imagine that our expectations were quite high. Both Tyrus and Pol Omega are all that we had hoped they would be. Moderate, well pigmented, deep, thick, very loose hided and soggy. They walk well on good feet and have outstanding pedigrees. Both bulls carrying a lot of performance. We are very happy with our bullpen this year, but these two are just a step above.

We just loved this guy from day one, he is the last embryo calf from this mating. We have a full sister in our herd who is now 8 years old and still looks great with a tidy udder and quality feet. This bull calf really looks the part and will become a herdsire you can be proud to own. He is long spined has a tons of body and spring of rib ,nice hip with extra thickness all in a Polled outcross package. Lots to look forward to if you bring Pol Asylum home because he is crazy good.

I just scratch my head every time I look at this bull, we look back throughout his pedigree and for the life of us we cannot figure out where all the extreme growth is coming from. You would swear he is from our fall program, but he is not. He started out at a modest 93 pound birth weight and then he just took off. He certainly will be big enough to breed some larger cows and I guess if his progeny come out just as slick as he did with the same growth, you will know you picked a winner.
100% FULL FLECKVIEH
Batten down the hatches it’s about to get long winded. We always liked the RWR Sully line ever since he was originally purchased by Lone Stone Farms in Westlock and Wolfe Farms of Valleyview. He worked well in both their heifer pens for years Swantewitt Simmentals purchased a female bred to Sully from Lone Stone Farms and ended up raising a high-quality heifer bull for themselves. We really liked a lot of the Swantewitt Sully sired calves, while touring their bullpen and his females are no slouches either, as a daughter was the high selling bred heifer at the Lone Stone Invitational sale.
Anyways, we suggested a temporary trade. We took Swantewitt Sully for a breeding season and they took Virginia Hawk from us for the season. We were able to add some Sully females to the herd and also produced these two sharp looking herdsires for your appraisal. Both bulls are very similar dark cherry red hair coats, low birth weights. Mothers are top-notch females having calving ease genetics throughout, nice feet and walk well with great temperament. Both Vortex and Odyssey have a lot to offer and will make some beautiful replacement females for you and some well nice looking steers. Make sure to check them out.
We would like to welcome you to the 7th Next Step Bull Sale.
We have been in the Simmental business for 33 years and run a herd of Full Fleck, Red and Blacks. We are trying to attain bull calves that are easy calving and still have good growth. Which has been with the two sire that we have. All bulls have been given Enforce 3 and Bova Shield Gold and 8 way.
All bulls can be viewed at any time. Stop by for a visit.

Welcome to the 2025 Next Step bull sale. We would like to thank everyone that has shown interest in and supported our program. Thanks to the team at Thorsby Stockyards for hosting our sale, they always do a great job marketing cattle. I feel this is our strongest group of bulls to date. I am filled with intrigue and excitement over the 2025 calves as there is promising prospects for the future as we continuously strive to create a functional, productive herd by breeding, buying and culling.
As we are seeing record high cattle prices on calves, cows and cull bulls it a good time to evaluate the herd to cull those problem or unproductive cow or bulls. With cattle prices at record highs, the price per pound on those old bulls adds up! Now is a perfect time to take that money and reinvest in some new young bulls.
Our 2025 Next Step bulls offer performance and calving ease options as well as some that are a mix of both. Our bulls are raised without creep feed, giving real gain numbers based on the ability of calf to grow and on mama’s ability to raise calves. This also serves as a herd evaluation tool, highlighting which cows are productive and the ones that aren’t. Alyssa at Heartland Feeds has done a phenomenal job putting together our feed and mineral program. Our bulls are slowly developed on corn silage TMR for longevity and have the ability to go out and breed without being too fat. Fall bulls were weaned August 1st along with some of the bulls off first calf heifers we took off due to lack of grass. The rest of the bulls were weaned September 6th.
Come tour the bull pen or give me a call as I would be happy to assist you in finding the bull that best suits your herd. Transcon team is also available to work for you in assessment of bulls or to bid on your behalf if you are unable to make the sale.

Welcome to the 7th Annual Next Step Bull Sale. Seven years has certainly gone by fast. 2024 was a great year in the cattle market and we are hoping for another strong year for everyone.
Thank-you to all of our previous buyers and bidders in support of our breeding program. Here at Nolara Farms, we strive to maintain a herd of cows with good temperament, good feet, and strong maternal traits. We currently have 100 purebred and fullblood Simmentals and a commercial herd of 100 Simmental cows.
We are excited to bring you this year’s offerings! Our bulls are developed at Gilchrist Genetics on a cereal silage based TMR ration balanced with the Masterfeeds Blueprint bull supplement. The main focus is the health and development of the bulls over their rate of gain.
All our bulls are frame scored and are coat color tested. Polled bulls were tested for homo-polled traits. Please see the footnotes for the results. There are a variety of genetics on offer and we hope you are able to choose one to fit your needs.
We would like to thank Sara and Ryan for all the work they do to ensure our bulls are looking their best. If you wish to view the bulls in person, please call Sara at 780-305-6855 for a drop in visit. Look for the videos online on Transcon or Nolara Farms Facebook page closer to sale date. Hope to see you on sale day in Thorsby!

Take a look at his brothers photo below, 79M, there are not a lot of differences in the two of them! Murdock is long as a freight train with good muscle carrying down his hind quarter. His dam, LNS 34C, goes back to the CG Red Dorie cow family that we purchased from Garth Cutler years ago. The Red Dorie family is known for their strong foot and udder quality.
MacGyver is another Kong son. The Kong progeny are long bodied and born unassisted just the way we like them! The Kong females were well received in our female sale with Gilchrist Genetics last October and we love the ones we retained in herd! MacGyver is a long bodied bull with ample muscle shape and expression.

We would like to welcome everyone to the 7th ANNUAL NEXT STEP BULL SALE! It’s an honour to be part of THE NEXT STEP BULL SALE and market bulls along side the rest of these excellent livestock breeders!
Email: masterloc81@gmail.com RUGGED
Here at Masterloc Simmentals we are breeding about 60 polled and horned Full Flechvieh cows along with about 70 Simmental cross commercial cows. All of our cows are run together under commercial cow management practices. No favoritism here! We use natural breeding as well as an AI breeding program along with some embryo transplants. We have a mainly April to May calving program.
All of the bulls we have on offer are coming two year old. The bulls are grown out and fed a corn silage, hay with oat ration top dressed with Bullseye supplement and minerals. We strive to select our bulls on quality not quantity, they are selected for temperament, feet and legs, soundness and performance.
19L In our opinion is our top bull this year. 19L is the full brother to MASTERLOC KINSMAN 2K that sold at The Friday Night Lights sale in 2023. He sold to Canadian Sires and now walks the Pastures at Kuntz Simmentals. Lancaster 19L is very much like his brother. He’s well-muscled very free and easy moving like Kinsman with excellent feet and legs. 19L is maybe even a bit darker red and I believe a bit longer spined. Lancaster is a bull that we would like to work with the new owner to draw some semen on or buy

HORNED, FULL FLECK, NON DILUTER 4L is possibly the longest bull in our offering. He’s another good son of Bordeaux out of a very good Canon X Lady A daughter with a beautiful clean and tidy udder. 4L is dark red, blaze faced, super long and thick well muscled bull with all the great assets to walk the pastures and breed cows. 4L is definitely one of my favorite bulls since birth.
HOMO POLLED 100% FULL FLECK NON DILUTER 18L is another good son of Rugged R Bordeaux 0029H by BLCC Miss Future 17F. His dam is a great femle with a nice neat udder that we purchased from the awesome Bonchuck Family. 18L is almost solid dark red, deep ribbed, with plenty of thickness. He moves well on a set of great feet and legs. Also an added bonus of being HOMO POLLED so he’s a natural dehorner.

HORNED, 100% FULL FLECK
16L is a deep ribbed heavy muscled son of Bordeaux out of a beautiful young Pol Synergy daughter that we purchased from Virginia Ranch. His momma has a beautiful sweet and clean udder and if you check out the bottom side of her pedigree you find some awesome maternal females! You won’t want to miss out on this guy we like him a lot and should really be keeping him in our own commercial herd.
HOMO POLLED, 100% FULL FLECK
15L is Homo Polled with a bit of a flair. He’s a mix of some of the newer genetics of Bordeaux mixed with a bit of the old. His dam is a polled daughter of the old and trusted MRLN ROGAR and a CHAMPS BROVO daughter. 15L’s grandam BLI LADY BRAVO 228Z is still producing here at 13 years old. 15L is deep ribbed, long, well muscled, moves well on good feet and legs with longevity and great maternal traits and he is HOMO POLLED.
HOMO POLLED, FULL FLECK, NON DILUTER 5L is the result of a package of embryos that we purchased from Double Bar D. Homo Polled and Calving easy stamped in here. His sire SVS Gambler is a calving easy specialist. His dam Double Bar D Ada 177C is definitely one our favorite cows in the breed. 5L is a bit smaller framed bull but is an asset in the heifer pen. He is a free and easy moving bull with good feet and legs along with the ability to be a natural dehorner. HOMO POLLED

Welcome to the 7th Annual Next Step bull sale. Thank you to all the previous bidders and buyers, your support is greatly appreciated. Also thank you to Thorsby Stockyards and the Transcon staff for the effort that goes into this sale allowing us to market our breeding stock.
We have continued to select and build a herd based around strong cow families with high maternal traits while still focusing on cattle that can enter the feeding industry and perform without sacrificing efficiency. I mentioned last year in the catalogue that carcass weights were hitting some of the highest levels we’ve seen, this trend is not going away. While the national cow herd shrinks, the shortfall is getting filled with more carcass weight. I feel the Fleckvieh genetics we are using can contribute to building those cattle with a bit more frame and size that is sought out by the feeding industry.

We look forward to seeing you in Thorsby on March 6th, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact myself or any of the Transcon members regarding our offering.
Ryan & Carla
This is probably my favourite bull in the pen. Sired by the South African bull Eldandi, and out of a good young cow that has given us two daughters which have entered our herd. A bit of an outcross to some of the newer genetics out there. He is just a complete built individual. Check him out, I think you will agree.
100% FLECK, NON DILUTOR
Here is the first son on offer from our South Seven Kongo bull. He has a bit of chrome on him with a big white band down his right hip but it’s hard to ignore his wide top and thick hind quarter. Tracing back to two of the deepest bodied cows we have on the farm. He is well built and should sire some desirable offspring.
100% FLECK, NON DILUTOR
Another Kongo son that necessarily doesn’t stick out in the group but when you look at him individually there is a lot to like. Thick muscled, Long bodied with a wide top and good hair coat. Many traits that produce those good feeding steers. A maternal brother sold here a few years ago to Rock Bottom Farms.

Welcome! We are extremely excited to be apart of Transcon’s Next Step Bull sale!
This year we have worked hard on the offering. These bulls are a great example of the herd sires we have at Skyline. We have high standards when it comes to conformational quality. Our herd sires have very solid feet as well as structural correctness in their makeup. We like a bull that adds to the herd, so an extra rib or added muscling is just a bonus on top of all the other boxes we check when selecting a herd sire. I’m confident that these bulls will go out and turn into herd sires that will improve your herd!
If you are in the area and available for a tour, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Steffler
Mosey is the type of bull you can’t help but notice when you walk into the pen. His flashy white face will catch your eye and his attractive build will hold your gaze. He’s extremely long spined, big barrelled with a wide square hip tying everything together. He’s got a puppy dog personality and will come up to meet you in the pen. Mosey’s dam, Franga has put her work in. She’s an excellent footed cow with a great udder. Shes the type of cow I wish I had more of! His sire, Beast, needs no introduction. He’s done it time and time again putting high quality bulls in the sale and equally good females in the herd. Beast had a picture perfect set of big feet under him, and always adds extra length of spine and a fancy front end. If you’re in the market for a bull to add some size and an extra rib to his calves, make sure you take a look at Mosey.
Where do I even start. Mountaineer has been a specimen since day one. He’s long in his makeup, with an impressive amount of muscle on his frame. This guy has got it all. He’s got great growth, exciting genetics, conformational correctness throughout, a docile personality and carries himself well. With a big solid foot and great testicle development he’s sure to follow in his sires footsteps. Red Prince was a standout in his offering. He was a must have for us. Once you take a look at his calves you’ll understand why. We are very happy with his first set of calves and used him even heavier for his second breeding season. Mountaineer is a bull with a ton of potential. His dam is a picture perfect cow. She’s got an extra rib, tons of barrel and a wide top, with a fantastic set of feet under her and a great udder. This guys loaded on both sides, be sure to take a look at Mountaineer if you like calves with an abundance of growth and style.
If you like your calves to come out small with a ton of vigour, that grow like crazy take a look here! Master is smooth made with a small head and tucked in shoulders. He moves out extremely well on a big solid foot. His sire Compadre has been in our heifer pen for a few years now, and it’s safe to say he will stay there. His calves are consistent and are up sucking before you can get them to the barn. Masters dam is a cow with a great udder and awesome set of feet under her. She’s got a great personality to boot which is where master gets his docility from. Master is a bull that will go out and fit into any program, and sire calves you’ll be proud to sell.
