Welcome from the Transcon Team! Welcome to Transcon’s Annual Peace Country Bull Sale! This years sale will again be held at VJV Beaverloge. This annual event is Transcon’s most Northern Bull sale, yet has a client base across the prairies and northern US. Tri K Cattle Company has truly elevated their program over the last number of years. Keith and Keiran are a couple very sharp cattlemen with great business sense. They have developed a great following of loyal customers by offering very sound and functional bulls. Keiran’s sharp eye selected a group of females from the “Skor “ dispersal. He made some great choices and those cow’s sons will be at the top of the bull pen this year. There is a great selection of bulls in this group, they are sound, soft sided with lots of muscle shape. You will see very good advancement in quality at Albrecht Simmentals as well. Ryan has really been making some great strides, adding solid genetics to the herd. This is a thick made sound set of bulls from high end performance to calving ease. Definitely take the time to visit Ryan about the bulls. O Double E Simmentals has a solid set of coming 2yr old bulls. Eldon has developed his bulls to promote longevity, and structural soundness. These bulls with that extra age will have no problem getting the job done on larger groups of cattle. Willowdale Simmentals has a solid set of bulls again this year. To compliment the yearling group there are a couple 2 yr old bulls as well. These bulls are brought along at a modest level and you can expect them to be around for a few years. KMR Simmentals have a nice group of soft made, hairy bulls. There are a couple heifers bulls and a very interesting black calf as well. Kent and Robin are a great young couple who are very enthusiastic breeders so take the time to have a visit with them. These consignors would love for you to view the bulls on their farms anytime prior to the sale if you are unable to attend the sale. Hello and welcome to another edition of Transcon’s Peace Country Simmental Bull Sale. We would like to thank all of our past customers for your continued support of our program. We would also like to thank the programs that purchased our females this fall at the Camrose County Classic Sale. Our bull pen is deep in quality this year, we are very proud of the direction our herd is going. We have performance and calving ease bulls in each coat color to suit each individual’s needs. I don’t have to recap much on 2020 to get the point across of how weird of a year it was for everyone, but I think I can speak about how nice is it to be a part of the agricultural industry as for most it was business as usual. Maybe a year where a lot of people realized when the grocery stores produce and meat shelves were empty that they relied on farmers a lot more than they thought. No matter the situation we seem to push ahead and continue to raise some of the most sustainable and healthy beef in the world. Last year we just missed the start of Covid restrictions for our bull sale, and now for this year there is really no answer as to if those restrictions will be lifted or not. Farmers have proven to be able to adapt to the situations as some cattle sales have gone to online sales. I strongly urge everyone to stop by the farm any time before the sale to check out the bulls in their own environment, along with their dams and sisters. The bulls have developed very well this year, coming off a great summer of grass and having a pretty mild winter so far. We changed things up a bit this year after watching almost dry hay get rained on for multiple years in a row we ended up making a second silage pit of haylage. We then created a TMR ration with our nutritionist to incorporate both cereal silage and haylage, and I think this is probably the best our bulls have looked. More guts and growth while maintaining the athleticism to get cows bred through breeding season. Bulls will have poll testing done and the blacks will have coat color testing done as well. Please feel free to give Dad or me a call with any questions within our offering. We strongly recommend coming to see the bulls and their dams at home before the sale, with some built up cow families over the years it’s nice to see not only the dams of the bulls but many of the sisters working in the herd as well. All bulls are semen tested and guaranteed; if any problems arise please do not hesitate to call us. We have spare bulls and your cows will get bred!

As most will know by the time the catalogue reaches the mailboxes we are sad to announce the passing of GRANDPA Eric Hodges in late December. A staple name in the cattle business throughout the Peace Country. There wasn’t too many cattle guys Eric didn’t know. He had a reputation of being very straight up with people but he had a lot of integrity being trustworthy and kind for anyone who had a chance to do business with him. It would be cool if there was a way to see the amount of kms he traveled looking at cattle in the Peace Country. His honest opinion was no different around us as he was maybe the most critical of our cattle even though we all know he was never going to buying a bull or female as a feedlot man! That criticism helped us carve out the quality in our herd and we will be forever lucky and thankful. The agricultural legacy will live on with his sons, grandsons, great grandsons and great granddaughters. Homo Polled KKH Bootlegger is a calf we have been pretty excited about even before he was born when we purchased his dam at the Skor Dispersal in 2019. A full sibling sold through their bull sale for 18000 so we had a feeling it would work out well again. Well no disappointments here as 180H has exceeded our expectations. Maybe one of the most powerful bulls we have raised and solid all around. Boasting a huge 1105lb weaning weight he should sire some calves that put some extra jingle in your pocket. Homo Polled A dandy of a calf to start out our Perks Killswitch sire group, cherry red a full of power! One of the calves that were always picked out during pasture tours, quiet and has herd bull presence to him. His dam is a very powerful cherry red cow that has a very tidy udder and always brings home a heavy weight calf in the fall. Good hair loose made and exceptional feet with the dark hoofs. If you want a calf crop dark red and good here is a bull you won’t want to miss out on.

Homo Polled Another very strong Killswitch son we have liked since an early age. No surprise how much of a chunk this turned out to be being raised by one of our strong Chevy daughters. Chevy cows have risen to the top of our herd with their production records, our strongest bulls every year tend to be raised by a Chevy momma. 225H’s dam always is one of the first to calves and brings home the heaviest calves at weaning. A bull with a lot of bells and whistles he is long bodied thick made and has a nice square hip on him. Great set of feet on him which seems to be a consistency with the Killswitch calves.

Peas in a pod the next two bulls. If anyone is looking for a set of brothers to run with the cows and keep the calves consistent have a good look at 266H and 264H. This bull is everything the beef business is about. Long, soggy so deep and moves around like a cat. Has the nice money stripe blaze to add to his attractive profile. We really like these red calves off fleck mommas they just have that added growth and easy doingness to them. The females out of this bull should be outstanding we have a couple sisters to the bull in our herd and they are flat out good.

You really have to appreciate that like the bull before him these guys are just end of February bulls and they stand out amongst there almost two month older pen mates. Another fleck mother on the bottom side the cross just works really well to make strong bodied progeny. I think it would be pretty cool to see these two 1 cross bulls end up at the same yard as I think they have a lot to offer to commercial producers , they will be improvers.

The Pioneer cow family has a great production record as a full sibling to this bulls dam was one of our high selling red bulls last spring. The udder on this matrix daughter is impeccable. Another cool feature I’m seeing in these Matrix daughters is they stamp the Matrix butt into their calves. Homo polled with a great cow family behind him I think this bull has got a lot of maternal value.

Homo Polled Another dark red bull from our heifer bull Specialist. Our first year calving his progeny they were all very small probably 85lb average. Last year the weights were up from normal but they were born unassisted mainly due to their small heads and sleek builds, our heifers were also heavier which will influence the BW. We are calving out specialist daughters and they are nice made with good udders. We ran the sire with a group of papered cows last spring to get a bigger sample of calves. Long, dark red and out of one of our good Chevy cows. Great set of EPD’s on this guy, above average in calving ease as well as growth EPD’s.

He ties in one of the easiest red calving ease bulls in the breed with Sheriff and one of the great matrons in MRL 836W. Sleep Easy 204H has had that herd bull look to him since the start and his fleck momma did a great job raising him as a heifer. Great hair and the nice blaze face that really adds to this guy’s profile. Moderate birthweight and great EPD’s.

A nice red color on a moderate frame this guy will offer a lot of trouble free calving. Just a 96lb birthweight and an 814lb weaning. Non Dilutor so he can run with black cows and you won’t have to worry about grey calves. Wide topped and good footed. We really like this guy’s dam, we purchased her from Sunny Valley a few years ago and she’s done a really good job.

Hetero Polled WOW! Where to start with this guy, he is exactly what we are trying to do around here in terms of producing easy calving high performance cattle that are easy doing with eye appeal and highly maternal. Maybe the best calf to come out of a heifer around here and if you look at the pedigree it all makes sense. Cash has worked so well around for years now, we had a cash son sell as our high seller a few years ago we were pretty proud of that went to Blushrose Simmentals in SK and what a job he’s been doing there. 196H Denali dam is worth her weight in gold and she will be one of the cows we build the red program around. Red mountain, Red Teddy and Liner 104s it’s a pretty good pedigree with a bit of a twist for the red side of things. This bull is so soggy, deep from front to back and still has that wide top. 85lb birthweight and a massive 940lb weaning this bull his full of performance, he ranked #1 amongst his pen mates for WW to YW ADG. This bull has a lot to offer to the industry!

Homo Polled The old legend himself MRL Matrix brings another dandy calf that we have been impressed with. Matrix 146H comes from a mating we have repeated 4 times now because of how well it works. The first female we got from this cross went on to be a high seller for us at the Checkers sale to Circle G Simmentals, we kept the next sister and she is going to make a heck of a cow, then there is this meat machine of a bull and then we just had another heifer born a few nights ago as I write this up. Longevity is going to be a trait with this bull his dam is a W model still calving early every year and has an udder of a 3 year old cow. You going to want to keep every daughter of this bull they will be solid producers. Great footed and the Matrix stamp this guy should have a lot of friends come sale day!

Homo Polled Our Skor cows did a heck of a job for us in their first year every single cow brought a calf home that went into the keeper pen. Cow or heifer, black or red, just the amount of lbs of beef they raised was a true feature. They had one of the most impressive bull sales every spring and we have ran many bulls out of their program with great success. Hetero Polled - Homo Black A State of War son that is going to have a lot of friends come sale day. He is as deep as the come with some frame and stretch you like to put in a calf crop. Out of another productive cow that was the grand dam to our $9000 bred heifer last fall that went to Fore See Cattle. We really like or State of War calves for their superior calving ease and high vigour. For the most part they are up and going before we can even get them in the barn with the calf sleigh. Better yet they also come home at weaning weighing up which is very important to us. Great set of EPD’s on this bull as well.

Homo Polled - Homo Black RST Barbarian is an ET calf out of the 783Z donor cow from Mader Ranches. I’ve always admired 783Z look so when I had the opportunity to purchase embryos, I jumped all over it. RST Barbarian is a big-time performance bull with style. He has tremendous length of spine, great feet, hair, a big hip and weaned at 1100lbs at the beginning of October. His sire is the great LFE Riddler who was the high selling bull in the Lewis 2015 bull sale for $170,000. A bit bigger bw influenced by his recip dam but the avg on his full sibs is 90lbs so buy with confidence.

Homo Polled - Hetero Black RST Huntsman 29H is an early Feb calf that doesn’t give up anything to his older pen mates. He’s solid black, deep sided, big ribbed and has a nice look to him. His sire is WLB Bounty Hunter son we purchased from WLB livestock. We selected WLB 491E for our heifer pen and for the cow family that he was backed by. In the WLB Livestock dispersal this fall the 43Y cow family avg $9400. Huntsman is backed by a really good young cow out of Silverlake Brute 18B. The Brute daughters continue to impress with age and will be impactful for years to come.

The feeding program has stayed the same; home based feeding ration and barley silage. The bulls are not overfed. They have moderate birth weights, display sound performance and conformation. When we purchased pick of two open heifers from Willowdale Simmentals in 2019, the dam of 2H caught my attention right away, I knew on phenotype alone this was one of my choices. The 38F heifer has done nothing but impress though her development and raising of her first calf, this perfect udderd tanky female hit it out of the park on her first try and the result is 2H. This bull is sired by Cowboy Cut who has the most registered progeny in the breed for the past two years, this bull makes them very correct in type, they come easy and grow. Born unassisted out of a first calf heifer, I wouldn’t hesitate to walk this fella in a heifer pen.

Merle is just a mid February calf that goes back to the great Normac cow family, his dam is a top black cow in our program that carries some extra frame and length backed by and impeccable udder. Merles maternal brother was our high selling bull last year going to the great folks at the Blacksmith Ranch. He is the largest framed bull of the E-Stop sons and should mature into a big boy, having double digit calving ease numbers and a bw in the low 90’s accompanied by smooth shoulders and a small head he should add some length of spine to his calves while still carrying some great calving ease.

ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors. or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale. TRANSCON LIVESTOCK CORP. IS AGENT ONLY - It is to be clearly understood that Transcon Livestock Corp. is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations, neither does Transcon Livestock Corp. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties, and any legal action that may, in exceptional cases, be taken, must be between buyer and seller. The Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Managers.
