Welcome to the sale We at NuHaven Cattle Co. would like to thank you for your interest in the offerings of the “First Annual Best Black Bulls in Canada Sale”. Until this year we have kept enough bulls to sell by private treaty, but with the power of our newest herd sire, Man Power, we have decided to sell the first calf crop of this power-house by private auction. As many of you know, we have been involved in the breeding of Maine cattle for 40 years beginning with our first introduction to the breed as Poplar Haven Farms. In the past 40 years we can’t remember being as excited about a single herd sire as HAA Man Power 506T. We are proud to have 16 of Man Power’s first crop of bull calves on offer; this provides you with an opportunity to purchase siblings to be used in large sire group pastures. 2009 was a remarkable year for NuHaven, we were very excited to partner with Dun-Rite Stock and Stables of Bentley to make our return to the show ring. Agribition was a huge success for the entire string of a combined total of eight animals, including the Reserve Champion Maine Bull Calf, NuHavens Crossfire 90W. The cattle will be available for viewing prior to sale day at your convenience, please call in advance. They will be sorted and ready for viewing beginning at 11:00 am MST with bidder registration beginning then. After evaluating the offerings we invite you to place your private bids with our clerks, beginning at 1:00 pm MST. All bids will be posted on our “Maine Boards” for all to see. At 3:30 pm MST all bidding will be ceased and the auction closed. Once the bidding is closed the buyers are requested to present themselves to the sale clerks for settlement. There will be a $50 price reduction on bulls loaded out on sale day, otherwise the bulls within a 150 km radius of NuHaven will be delivered by the end of April/ beginning of May. We will also have a select group of 15 purebred Maine, MaineTainer and commercial Angus heifers on offer sale day. Bidding will also be private auction, with all bids placed on the “Maine Board”. Man Power is a bull that we purchased out of the Hartman Cattle Co private treaty sale in the summer of 2007. He was shown in the National Western Stock Show Maine-Anjou Pen of Three bull show in January 2008. During the summer of 2008 Man Power was turned out with a select group of two year old cows and we artificially inseminated 50 more. These bulls are the result of those matings. Mike Hartman was so impressed with the quality of Man Powerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s calves and in Man Power himself, that Man Power was sent back to Nebraska in the summer of 2009 to be prepared for the National Western Stock Show. Man Power was in the Hartman Cattle Co. line-up at Denver and became the Senior Maine-Anjou Bull Champion 2010. Man Power is by The Man, who was the 2001 National Western Stock Show Grand Champion Bull and out of a Majors Money Man daughter who was sold for $70,000 in the 2003 HCC sale and went on to an illustrious show career. We are still in awe of the consistency of his calves, he stamps every one with the same strong hip and straight top line. They are all solid black with great hair, the majority are polled or scurred, and only get better with time. We believe that with the strength of his pedigree and his ability to make them correct and black Man Power will become a main stay in the Maine Anjou breed.
