As for the other pit, it should be filled with water to the brim. In an ideal site, the water should take over an hour to be absorbed byt he soil. If it takes less time than that, the site is regarded as a potential drain on resources. Large cracks left behind in the pit after the water drains away is a forewarning that extensive construction expenses would be incurred on new construction on the plot. A couple of small cracks is not a matter of concern, but if there are more than seven cracks, then think wisely before investing your money on such a piece of land. When you return, a good site will retain over half the water, an average site would retain between one-fourth and one-half of the water while a poor site would retain less than one-fourth of the water in the pit.
