On the Cover In 2007, Maine-based artist, Charles Farrell, created “Peshtigo Fire,” a collage that captures the crisis and chaos of the fire. When his mother casually mentioned that his great-great grandmother, Mary Kehoe, had survived the 1871 tragedy, he began research that led to this collage, which honors the memory of those who perished. Cover design by Lisa Schroeder
