Belgian Waffles

Versatile and oh-so-delicious, these traditional Belgian waffles can be served up topped with just about anything your tastebuds desire.

Ingredients

Method

2 cups plain flour 3/4 cup sugar 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 2 eggs, separated 1 1/2 cups milk 1 cup butter, melted 1 teaspoon vanilla extract whipped cream fresh berries icing sugar for dusting

In a bowl, combine flour, sugar and baking powder. In separate bowl, lightly beat egg yolks. Add milk, butter and vanilla extract; mix well. Stir into dry ingredients just until combined. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form then fold into batter. Makes 10 (approx.)

Bake in a preheated waffle iron according to manufacturer’s directions until golden brown. Serve with dollops of whipped cream or ice cream sprinkle with your choice of berries and dust with icing sugar.
