Asian BBQ Steak

Experience the zing of Asian flavours with every bite of this tenderised steak.

Ingredients

Method

Did you know

1/4 cup chilli sauce

In a medium bowl, whisk together chilli sauce, sesame oil, ginger and garlic. Set aside a few tablespoons of the mixture for brushing the steaks during grilling.

To tenderise, a marinade must contain an acidic ingredient, such as lemon juice, vinegar, yogurt, wine or salsa. Enzymes found in fresh pineapple, papaya and ginger function as natural tenderisers.

1/4 cup fish sauce

1 1/2 tbsp dark sesame oil

1 tbsp grated fresh ginger root Juice of 1/2 lemon

3 cloves garlic, peeled & crushed 1 kg rump steak

Score rump steak and place in a shallow dish. Pour remaining marinade over the steak and turn to coat. Cover and marinade in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours. Preheat BBQ for high heat. Lightly brush the hotplate surface with oil. Grill steak for 5 minutes per side, or to desired time, brushing frequently with the reserved marinade mixture. Serve with leafy greens.
