Hearty Lasagne A favourite with the whole family, this lasagne is perfect to warm you up in the colder weather.
Ingredients
Method
2 teaspoons olive oil 1 brown onion, finely chopped 2 garlic cloves, crushed 750g beef mince 800g diced tomatoes 125ml dry red wine 55g tomato paste Fresh lasagne sheets 55g coarsely grated mozzarella
Preheat oven to 180°C. Heat the oil, cooking the onion and garlic. Add the mince and cook through. Add the tomato, wine and tomato paste, and bring to the boil. Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, adding salt and pepper to taste.
Bechamel sauce 1L (4 cups) milk 60g butter 50g (1/3 cup) plain flour 70g (1 cup) finely grated parmesan
To make the cheese sauce, melt the butter until foaming. Add the flour and cook, stirring, for 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat.
Makes 8 portions

Gradually pour in half the milk, whisking constantly with a balloon whisk, until mixture is smooth. Add the remaining milk. Once thickened, add the parmesan. Grease a rectangular ovenproof dish with oil. Starting with a layer of bechamel sauce, continue layering lasagne sheets and mince mixture, finishing with a layer of bechamel. Sprinkle with mozzarella. Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes.
