What’s on this week in Melbourne
A yummy dish to tantalise the taste buds and warm the soul The town of Wangaratta is located 3 hours north-east of Melbourne and is home to a variety of fantastic bike trails and walking tracks, mid to late 1800s architecture, art galleries and a number of parks and gardens for visitors and locals to enjoy. The sunken gardens of Merriwa Park are an excellent spot to retreat to, surrounded by waterways and featuring a lagoon, Fernery and bush walking paths.

Through personal perspective, explore one of the most complex issues of our time. The exhibition features people who now live in Australia with permanent residency, some who are on temporary visas, and others who remain in detention on Manus Island. Hear about the reasons people flee their homes, their perilous journeys in search of safety, the banality of daily life in detention, and the afterlives - both lived and hoped for of people resettling in Australia. Stories from Detention is being held at the Immigration Museum daily until July.

Barcelona is an enchanting seaside city with boundless culture, fabled architecture and a world-class drinking and dining scene. Feast on hearty, rich paella at an outdoor table overlooking the sea or step back to the 1920s at an elegant art nouveau dining room. Barcelona’s wide-ranging palate adds further complexity: Basque-style tapas bars, Galician seafood taverns, avant-garde Japanese restaurants and sinful chocolate shops are all essential parts of the culinary landscape. Barcelona’s architectural treasures span 2000-plus years. Towering
temple columns, ancient city walls and subterranean stone corridors provide a window into Roman-era Barcino. The deep blue Mediterranean beckons. Sundrenched beaches make a fine backdrop to a jog, bike ride or long leisurely stroll along the seaside – followed by a refreshing dip. You can also enjoy the view from out on the water while kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding or taking it easy on a sunset cruise. Lonelyplanet.com
