News from Capricorn by Sheila Stewart
Animal rescue
Christmas is upon us and it means so many things to so many people. To most it is a joyous time to be celebrated with family, to some it is deeply religious celebration, to some it is the loneliest, saddest time of the year.. To us at Capricorn it is one of our busiest times, both before, during and after the Christmas period. From November onwards, we get older animals being abandoned or handed in, mainly so that a new younger version can be taken on at Christmas.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped Capricorn over the past year, and especially those who are helping us at the Sanctuary in the bad weather, day after day, their care for the animals is unstinting. Thank you once again, to the Capricorn Team of Volunteers, they are very special people. They don’t seem to mind the muck and the mud. the wet and the cold and they always have a laugh as they tell each other about the funny things the animals have been up to, as we gather late afternoon round the fire drinking our Cup a Soup.
Thanks to all of you who have donated bedding and food for the animals, especially those animals who will be at the Sanctuary over the Christmas period, still waiting for a home of their own.
Sheila Immediately after Christmas we get the part litters handed in or dumped (these are the residue that didn’t get sold as Christmas presents) and towards the end of January we get the ones that did get sold as Christmas presents, when households are getting back into a normal routine, people are back at work, school etc, puppies and kittens left alone all day, the owners come back day after day to piddle and poo everywhere, things chewed up, and it is always the animals fault, so out they go.
