Visa requirements Most visitors to Tanzania require a visa to enter the country. You can obtain a visa on arrival at the airport or apply in advance online. Check the latest visa requirements and fees before you travel. Cur rency The official currency of Tanzania is the Tanzanian shilling. You can exchange foreign currency at banks or forex bureaus in major cities. Credit cards are accepted in some places, but it’s always a good idea to carry cash for small purchases. Language Swahili is the official language of Tanzania. However, English is widely spoken, especially in tourist areas. Vaccinations Make sure you are up-to-date on your routine vaccinations and consider getting additional vaccinations such as yellow fever, hepatitis A and B, and typhoid. Malaria is a risk in Tanzania, so take necessary precautions such as taking antimalarial medication and using mosquito repellent. Safari Etiquette When on safari, follow the rules set by your guide or park rangers. Respect the animals and their habitat by not getting too close or disturbing them. Avoid making loud noises or sudden movements that may frighten the animals. Cultural Etiquette Tanzania is a diverse country with many different cultures and traditions. Be respectful of local customs and dress modestly in public places. Ask permission before taking photos of people or their homes. By knowing these things beforehand, you can better prepare for your trip to Tanzania and have a more enjoyable and meaningful experience.
