True Detective magazine wrote a 5-page spread on the George August Reck murder case. The defense said the story, published May 1968, was "full of inaccuracies," according to court documents. The man convicted of the murder, James Edward Hayton, has spent nearly 50 years in prison and in April 2016 he spoke to the Livingston Daily Press & Argus (Howell, Michigan) claiming still he is innocent.
