CRACKING YOUR WELLNESS CODE

From the environment we live in to the communities we build, true wellness is so much more than just strength and flexibility. We take a closer look at what wellness means in 2020.

2020 has been quite a year. From political instability to global pandemics, the uncertainty brought by these axis-shifting events has led more of us to question the true meaning of wellness. How can we crack the code and unlock a true sense of wellness that extends beyond physical ability?

Pure believes in a 360-degree approach to wellness, combining physical, mental and social elements to optimise both your self and your health.

THE THREE PILLARS OF WELLNESS Pure has identified three interlocking pillars that everyone needs to cultivate in order to thrive in a 360-degree wellness ecosystem. Each of these pillars are connected, and many people will find that nurturing one can lead to benefits in another.

For instance, committing to a regular group class builds a sense of community, while endorphins released from an intense workout will help to manage stress and improve your sleep. Taking time to introspect in a meditation class can help to build resilience and emotional intelligence, and simply coming home less stressed and burntout will have a positive effect on your relationships with your friends and loved ones.

GETTING TO 360 WELLNESS Now that we’ve recognised the pillars that make up the whole wellness ecosystem and how they intersect, how do we get there as individuals? Between work and family commitments, there are only so many hours in a day to work on ourselves. Struggling over self-care? Here are some simple steps to make getting there a little easier.

1. FIND SOMETHING YOU LOVE

Hate running? You don’t have to do it! Committing to a workout that doesn’t spark joy will lead to excuses and resentment, and is simply unsustainable. Explore all activities that interest you and find something you can look forward to.

With a variety of group classes, Pure Fitness has something for everyone.

2. MAKE IT A GROUP EFFORT

Make time to nurture your relationships by making a commitment to 360-wellness with friends or loved ones. Hold each other accountable and set a regular date for a workout and dinner, so it’s something you look forward to.

3. PRIORITIZE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

Depression, anxiety and chronic stress are at an all-time high, but the good news is that mental health is finally getting the recognition it deserves.

Conduct regular mental MOTs with mindfulness and meditation classes.

4. FIND YOUR TRIBE

Urban isolation and loneliness is a real problem in big cities. By joining a class at Pure Fitness, you can foster a sense of community, get to know fellow regulars and even make new friends. Undertaking a

Yoga Teacher Training certification at Pure Yoga can also connect you with like-minded students. OF WELLNESS Pure has identified three core pillars that every individual needs to nourish in order to unlock 360-degree wellbeing.

5. KNOW YOURSELF

Don’t try to follow someone else’s path to wellness.

If you’re not a vegan weightlifter, don’t try to force it! Get to understand your priorities. From there, a sustainable and joyful path to 360-wellness will fall into place.

JOIN THE PURE COMMUNITY If you’re looking to boost your wellness in every aspect of your life, drop into Pure this summer. From July 17 to August 24, new visitors can trial the Pure 360 Passport.
