To me, beyond satisfying the need of the mass, interactive thinking are required and further meanings are needed such as emotional sensitive. And this, is a multi-sides philosophy, perhaps between different groups of people, different interactions, different phenomenon, even more, between artificial and natural. Moreover, mixing up diverse elements, and evoking deeper thoughts with emotional perspectives would render a better solution. It is, the methodology which I would apply to my future practice in the field of urban design to explore more.

REMOULDING SPACE Planetarium Project 3.2020 - 6.2020,EA4 Instructor : Ying-Chang Yu Site : Hsing-Yi District,Taipei City,Taiwan,China Building Area : 10500 m² Individual Work

My aim is to creat a planetarium that can give people multi-dimensional experience. The method I use in the design is to analysis three artists who studied material generation from different perspectives. I extract their creative concepts in the way of deconstruction, and generate nine kinds of material phenomenon. Then I try to transform them into architectural elements, and reconstructed them into buildings according to their material levels.

Keywords: + Element Deconstruction + Concept Extraction + Phenomenon Recombination

Planetarium and the Universe

Because of its functionality, many of the planetariums are composed of simple volumes nowadays.

The connection between spaces are relatively simple, which makes it difficult for people to associate it with the ever-changing universe.

From a single planet, to the planets and satellite, to the galaxies and the whole universe, the universe is divided into several levels.

If I change one of the levels, the final result will be different. If I change all levels, the possibility of change will become even bigger.

Deconstruction the Planetarium building (system) I hope the planetarium can be an integral part of the city and provide people a temporary escape from the concrete and steel world.

structure (group) space distribute (unit) chamber (component) I divide the architecture into four levels, and each level is designated with different material. I hope that through the study of material, I can create more possibilities in the design.

The universe changes depending on the viewing perspective. The audience can experience the changing when they are at different angles and standing on different heights.

Renature

Ryoichi Kurokawa

Ryoichi Kurokawa uses the original scientific data to transform the pure energy from outer space into measurable sound and vision through reconstruction. It is a kind of deconstruction after abstraction and reconstruction to capture images and sounds in the natural environment and make them distorted and geometrically flat.

Ryoichi Kurokawa change the form of the natural substances by changing the most basic components of them.

Order to Disorder

Visible to Invisible combine

Static to Trends combine

The static object can have a dynamic sense of rotation by increasing the change of the diameter of discs .

From the bottom to the top, the order of the model gradually disappears, and the entity turns into a transparent substance.

transform

With the increase of height, the cortex of the building begins to rotate and expand, and the effect on the facade gradually changes from transparent to opaque.

Roll over & Shuttle

Mix & Split combine

Twist & Inlay combine

The metal ribbons are not only mixed with each other, but also squeezed and embedded with each other.

The metal objects gradually split and begin to roll over after mixing and shuttle with each other.

transform

The ribbon objects rotate and interpenetrate with each other to form a corridor space, and a single surface is twisted to form a wall for projection during the performance.

LIVING TOGETHER Youth Hostel Project 9.2018 - 11.2018,EA3 Instructor : Jenny Lin Site : Beursplein,Amsterdam,Netherlands Building Area : 2200 m² Individual Work

This ‘Living Together’ project wishes to communicate with residents and tourists, locally based. The methodology behind is to build up interactions by matching the activities from a space perspectives. I recorded the data in a 3D coordinate system and then collage the data-based space puzzles into the youth hostel.

Program Arrangement Classify and divide the programs into dynamics and statics. The noisy spaces such as the stage and activity room are placed on the ground floor while the static spaces such as guest rooms and meditation rooms are on the second floor, and the viewing platform on the top of the building. After defining the major categories, each layer is classified by height difference changes to make the space more dynamic and interesting. At the same time, it can also divide the space well and prepare for the next topographic changes.

The form of bridge structure and the volume mimic the texture of tides.

Considering the need of the mass, I create more intersections in between. By having more storey, the project lifts its possibility of multi-functioning. Meanwhile, with the analysis of tide flow, it gradually reduces the water contact of surface.

FLOWING MELODY Community Center Project 09.2020 - 1.2021,EA5 Instructor : Hoangell Jeng Site : Gulangyu,Xiamen,Fujian,China Building Area : 7700 m² Individual Work

‘Flowing Melody’ derived from Gulangyu, my hometown. It used to be named after ‘Piano Island’ because of the highest density of piano worldwide. But now, it is seriously affected by commercialization due to over-tourism. This project is with a mission of structure a community center for tourists and residents to enjoy ‘waterflow’ and ‘music’. These two elements represents how human and nature could interact romantically through the language of architect.

In this way, the stratum can be protected to the greatest extent. Caisson Sinking Method First, a shaft like structure is made on the surface, and then the soil is continuously excavated under the enclosure of the shaft wall to make the shaft like structure sink under the action of self-weight.

Material Study 9.2016 - 1.2017,EA1

The application of the material makes me see the essence of the architecture. I get familiar with the material and start to know more about what they meant to architecture and how to use them. This learning process inspires my design significantly.

SPACE ARRAY Material : Iron Pipe & Cement Through the observation of the site, it is found that the coverage and penetrability both exist. Metal and cement are used to create an array space to express the characteristics of the site.

WAVING CORTEX Material : Jelly Wax & Balloon My analysis of the mega potholes proves that their formation is related to the water and air on the stratum. My experiment studies the turbulent motion of the cortex. By controlling the density of the internal structure of jelly wax, the amount of gas in the balloon, and the level of water pressure, I observed the relationship between them, and begin to think about the possibility of making it becoming an architectural element.

BAMBOO PAVILION

Participators : Tamkang University,Department of architecture,EA1 Studio,Group 8

We try to explore the bending degree of bamboo, and the way for the material to connect with each other and with the ground. The bending bamboos create a space for users to stay and rest, and the ropes are used to tie the bamboo. The tooth stick is inserted into the bamboo tube for perfusion fixation, so that the bamboo tube can be fixed on the ground. The bamboo strips are inserted into the bamboo tube, and then tied and fixed with ropes, so that the pavilion can be fixed on the ground.

BOARD STRUCTURE Material : Wood Board I take the posture of me using mobile phone before sleep as the design idea, the wood is used as the material, and the seat can be folded and retracted through metal parts and interfaces.

OTHER WORKS Model Study

S G

I believe making models gives me deeper understanding of the space atmosphere I create and drawing by hand makes me better grasp the sense of scale. This kind of practice greatly improves my perception toward architecture.

FOLDING SPACE

1.《Liberty Leading The People》 2.Wassily Kandinsky——modern abstract painting

Based on constructivism, this picture is redefined, which captures important movements of characters and projects geometric images. The graph is divided into three levels, the statue of liberty, the rebellious people and the government army, and based on this, the spatial model is developed.

WINDOW SCAPE Site: Tamkang University Dormitory Based on the windows in the dormitory of Tamkang University, after surveying the window landscape and the environmental behavior, the wall is transformed, and the outer extension space is rationally utilized to create new use space. At the same time, an additional folded plate is used to reflect the light and influence the interior.

SHARED READING SPACE

Site:Taipei Jinhua Community Based on the local demand for reading space, I take the local special block texture and lane form as the design elements.I try to create a special reading environment through the effect of light and shadow. Also, the structure increases opportunities for interactions between people on different floors and spaces, creating a feeling of walking on the local streets.

SHARED HOUSING

In view of the aging society and the emerging of more and more single parent families, I hoped to close the relationship among users with different ages and family backgrounds by putting more semi open spaces as public spaces. For example, the balcony of the public is used to grow fruits and vegetables, and the social hall is used for daily activities.

PARALLEL AND INTERSECT Site:Tamsui Primary School

Function: Art Gallery

Based on the concept of the intricate streets around the base, the exhibition space with different characteristics is created. Different heights offer audience varied angles of watching the exhibition. After testing the reflection and refraction of light, the best angle and the form of folded plate are selected. And the natural light introduced into the space can be changed into diffuse light.
