print making LIZZY HOUSE 2017
I started printmaking in the summer of 2007, just months before I would design my first line of fabric, Lizzy Dish, for Andover Fabrics. In printmaking I found my home for expression. It was, and still is my preferred mode of making. The variation in marks, the discovery, the tedium, and the intense physical aspect of making multiple originals felt like a solution to a mystery I’d always been trying to solve. While I have continued to hone my printmaking skills, sell work, and teach it both collegiately, and in our world of retreats, my textile design over the past 10 years has been the work that has been most public, and available when you do a google image search for Lizzy House. I am proud of the work that I’ve done, and how it and I have changed over the course of a decade which is why it only makes sense that it would keep evolving. is the combination of these two loves: commercial textile design, and fine art printmaking. Drawing inspiration from three years of nonstop travel, time spent in museums on beaches and in my sketchbook, printmaking takes well loved shapes from my work and plays with beautiful color that, you’ll be glad to know, still holds true to the rainbow I’ve created in over a dozen previous collections. printmaking
I hope that you’ll enjoy cutting up printmaking, and putting it back together in our high quality quilting cotton, our delicious lawn, and our brand new canvas, just as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it, and the opportunity to share it with you.
