Tri-C has several session options each semester. New and readmitted students are encouraged to apply for admission or readmission at least six weeks prior to the start of the session they plan to enroll. This allows students to complete all required steps in the enrollment process in a timely manner to be sufficiently prepared for class start. (See Steps to Enroll on page 2 of this guide).

Enrolling for Audit or Pass/No Pass Option

Students planning to audit a class pending space availability must complete an audit form. The audit form must be completed in person at the Enrollment Center. See Registration Calendar on page 4 for dates associated with registration for audit. Students requesting the Pass/No Pass grade option must select that option no later than the last day to register.

Registration

Register online or in person at any Enrollment Center. Registration for classes will end the day before the first class meeting for 16, 14, or 8 week classes. Students are expected to be registered and attending class from the first scheduled meeting of the class period.

Canceled Classes

Occasionally the College must cancel a class because of insufficient enrollment. Every effort is made to notify students by e-mail and phone when this occurs. Those affected may register for a different class through the end of registration.

Schedule Adjustment Period (Register/Drop/Add)

Students may adjust their schedule during the first week of the term but can only enter a class that has not held the first scheduled session if space is available. Exceptions must be approved in writing by the academic associate dean responsible for the discipline.

Course prerequisites are established by each department to ensure that the student has an adequate background to be successful in the course. A ‘C’ grade is required in the prerequisite course. Successful completion of a prerequisite course will be checked at the time of registration. Note: Quarter courses taken prior to Fall 1998 to meet prerequisite requirements will require an exception form from a counselor-academic department or may be done electronically when you register online.

Residency Fees charged at the College are based on the individual student’s residency status designated as In-County, Out-ofCounty, or Out-of-State. This status is determined at the point of admission. If this status changes while enrolled at the College, it is the student’s responsibility to notify and submit documentation to the Enrollment Center by the end of the first week of the full term for which a change in residency is being requested for tuition purposes. Student Financial Aid and Scholarships Apply Early! Students should complete and submit the 2014-2015 FAFSA application and all required documentation for Spring 2015 by the POSTED PRIORITY DEADLINE of December 1, 2014, and for Summer by May 1, 2015. Financial aid opportunities are available in the form of scholarships, grants, loans and part-time employment. Eligibility and approval for all forms of financial aid should be determined at least six weeks prior to registration. Students are urged to apply for financial aid well in advance of the beginning of classes. Applications are available online at www.fafsa.gov. Book lines of credit will be provided to students who have met all financial aid eligibility requirements, registered in applicable coursework for the term, and met academic standards for financial aid purposes. Book lines of credit may be available at least one week before the start of the term for eligible students. All students receiving a book line of credit will be directly notified of availability and expiration through their Tri-C e-mail.
