Welcome to the 2018-2019 Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) Leadership Development Program. This program, sponsored in partnership with the Mandel Foundation, presents professional growth opportunities for high performing College Faculty, Executive, Emerging and Staff employees. As the employees profiled here prepare for leadership opportunities at the College, they have engaged in activities that advance dimensions of Tri‑C’s Strategy, Excellence and Development. Through interactive workshops, executive lectures and group projects, these College leaders have broadened their understanding of the higher education landscape while exploring positive communication techniques and management philosophies.

RESPONSIBILITIES • Work with students to stimulate critical analysis, rhetorical skill and syntactic growth. • Create within each classroom a community of writers that welcomes and celebrates the voices of all participants. • Design and frame essay assignments, respond to student writing, conduct class lectures and choreograph class and small‑group discussions. • Develop new writing assignments and in-class activities to keep pace with the ever-changing and diverse interests of Tri‑C’s student population.

Lorrie DiGiampietro Assistant Professor, English, Western Campus

• Utilize Blackboard course sites, computerized writing classrooms and advanced technology classrooms (ATCs) to engage students, facilitate text-based discussions and underscore writing as a process. • Conduct regular conferencing sessions with each writer to work on their particular struggles with organization, idea development, depth of analysis, cohesion and sentencelevel issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversee College-wide compliance and risk management efforts in accordance with reporting requirements. • Identify, analyze and refer legal issues to the College’s general counsel and deputy general counsel. • Proactively track and resolve potential compliance issues. • Identify and mitigate a variety of risks to the College. • Work with administrators on high-visibility projects at the direction of the College President and the Board of Trustees. • Avert loss of life, risk of major injuries/loss of man-hours and regulator fines by identifying and mitigating potential PERRP/ OSHA violations.

RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversee conversion of Microsoft Access queries into Evisions Argos datablock SQL queries and the ongoing maintenance of queries post-conversion.

Evan Peres Senior Analyst, Finance, District

• Oversee financial operations and operating expense budgets of the Eastern and Westshore campuses, Information Technology Services and Legal Services, with a combined FY19 proposed budget of $51M. • Upload operating expense budget during budget development for budget planner and salary planner; upload budget back into Banner once finalized. • Assist budget department with the creation of next year’s operating expense budget, as well as development and distribution of the corresponding budget book to the College’s Board of Trustees and to employees College-wide. • Forecast monthly revenue and non-wage expenses for Long Range Plan for final submission to vice president of Finance and Board of Trustees. • Analyze monthly budget variances and available balances, comparing budget against actual expenses and encumbrances, and research and provide explanations of any material variances to management. • Meet with and train employees during budget development and throughout the fiscal year. • Assist in preparation of budget roundtables and budget builder forums to keep employees informed throughout the year. • Reconcile and upload final revenue, expense and transfer budgets to the Ohio Department of Higher Education website.

RESPONSIBILITIES • Process, assist and advise students and their families on the availability of federal financial aid, scholarships and other forms of aid to help cover educational expenses. • Authorize awarding of federal financial aid and Tri-C Foundation scholarships. • Determine the packaging of student financial aid in accordance with applicable regulations, statutes and policies. • Utilize electronic data exchange software to send and retrieve information from the U.S. Department of Education. • Conduct financial aid and financial literacy workshops for prospective and continuing students. • Coordinate and monitor Tri-C’s federal work-study program at the Western Campus and Brunswick University Center.
