The Great Unknown
We invite you to journey with us this summer through an exciting festival focused on the theme The Great Unknown. Over the course of four weeks, 21 performances, and more than 50 FREE Learning & Engagement Activities, you’ll be surprised and delighted at every turn thanks to brilliant programming by SummerFest Music Director and celebrated pianist Inon Barnatan. With a wide variety of activities, there are endless opportunities to learn something new and unlock your own creativity at SummerFest.
Open Rehearsals illuminate the dedication, diligence, and passion that SummerFest artists put into every performance, while Artist Lounges reveal the deeper inspirations of some of the festival’s talented musicians, authors, and composers.
In our Encounters, we welcome back Alex Ross, music critic at The New Yorker. We’re joined for the first time by Ara Guzelimian, the Artistic and Executive Director of the Ojai Festival in California, who will help recover silenced voices and bring to life the works of Fanny Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann.
We also continue one of our most beloved and impactful programs, welcoming seven new Fellowship Artists to the festival. Follow their musical journey and build relationships with these emerging musicians from the Colburn School and The Juilliard School by attending Coaching Workshops, Fellowship Artist Spotlight Encounters, and Musical Preludes.
I look forward to seeing you this summer!
