Concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra, faculty member at the Curtis Institute of Music, Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, and winner of the Pro Musicis International Award, violinist Erin Keefe is among the leading chamber musicians of her generation. She has been featured on “Live from Lincoln Center” three times and has won many international competitions.

In this special Artist Lounge, Leah Rosenthal and attendees will speak with Edward Dusinberre, first violinist of the world-renowned Takács

Quartet, to learn more about his life and discuss his latest book, Distant Melodies: Music in Search of Home. An engaging blend of memoir and music history, Distant Melodies explores the changing ideas of home, displacement, and return through the lives and chamber music of four composers. Attendees are encouraged—but not required—to pick up a copy of Distant Melodies from their favorite local bookstore and come prepared to join the conversation.

Award-Winning violinist Tessa Lark and virtuoso composer/bassist Michael Thurber are a duo unlike any other. The two met years ago as alumni of From The Top, and they began developing their duo collaboration in 2016 after a one-off performance at an event for WXQR in New York City. The two quickly realized how much they had in common as they began to explore their musical influences together, combining Lark’s Kentucky bluegrass with Thurber’s versatile bass.

Hailed for his “trademark brilliance, penetrating sound and rich character” (The New York Times), clarinetist Anthony McGill is one of classical music’s most recognizable and brilliantly multifaceted figures. McGill is a passionate advocate for helping music education reach underserved communities, and works fervently to address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in classical music.
