SUMMERFEST

AUGUST 21 - 30

SummerFest Community Engagement Activities are Going Online It wouldn’t be SummerFest if we didn’t honor our tradition of community engagement and artist development. This year, you’ll be able to enjoy many familiar activities and connect with both friends and artists from the comfort of your own home.

LJMS Artistic Director Leah Rosenthal and I will kick-off the festival with an onstage conversation. We’ll discuss exciting moments to look forward to in the programs ahead.

Scholar and program annotator, Eric Bromberger, joins us for two interactive Preludes where he’ll share the historical context and musical significance of the works we’ll perform during the festival.

• Three Open Rehearsals give you the opportunity to see behind the scenes and to

ask questions to artists directly through YouTube chat or email. Tune in for some of your favorite works!

For young artists, NPR’s From the Top alums, Tessa Lark and Michael Thurber, take part in an Encounter with Assistant Director of the Center for Innovation and Community Impact at Colburn School, Jazmín Morales, and LJMS’ Education & Community Programming Manager, Allison Boles. They’ll address the challenges young musicians face as they prepare for a future in the arts and provide valuable guidance to musicians and their families.

Connect with James Ehnes, Clive Greensmith, Yura Lee, and Alisa Weilerstein during an Encounter focused on their experience during the pandemic and their hopes for what the future holds.

I look forward to connecting with you online this summer!
