STUDENTS UNION

HI! We’re John Moores Students’ Union, or JMSU for short. We’re here to represent you, support you and make sure you have an incredible time at university. The moment you become a student at LJMU, you become a member of JMSU, your Students’ Union. This means you can be a part of our amazing events, join our student groups and get involved in our academic and democratic representation.

Each year, LJMU students vote on who should represent them at university. Four full-time officers then lead your students’ union, representing and supporting your student voice. Being a student officer is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The leadership, communication and campaigning skills you gain give you a solid foothold for the next step in your career.

We run 100+ student groups

We have a wide range of student led groups for you to choose from. By joining a sports team, society, or community group you will meet new people, branch out to other avenues of university life and get the most out of your time here. We also offer lots of volunteering opportunities in and around the city that you can get involved with.

We run events year-round exclusively for LJMU students

Get to know our spaces and the wider city of Liverpool by coming to one of our regular, affordable events. We run events right through the year in some amazing venues, ranging from nights in the city’s biggest nightclubs, to cultural experiences and attractions across Liverpool.

We are here for support, if and when you need it

Our Advice team offers impartial and confidential advice, open to all LJMU students.

We ensure that your voice is heard

If there is something you feel strongly about, we can help you get your opinion out there and make changes in a variety of different ways – from giving you a national platform, or the chance to make a difference for your course mates at LJMU.
