INTRODUCTION
This book is about connecting with the Divine through my filter—my view of life based on my experiences. The information was established more on how I perceive archangels and saints can be a powerful force in your life and less on the varying degrees of history available to be researched.
You can experience the energy of joy and a passionate desire to find ways to connect with Spirit while reading this book. The Spirit of the Higher Self and the Spirit of the Universal Life Energy also refers to God, Goddess, Creator, and Great Spirit. When I refer to the Divine, I am referencing all those monikers. Working with the energy of archangels and saints helps to maintain a connection with the Divine and the opportunity to know oneself. Self-knowledge, or self-awareness, is one of the keys to experiencing a full, happy, and meaningful lifetime here on Earth.
A variety of faith-based systems have angels and archangels as well. Records from many cultures worldwide have similar descriptions of these visitations and apparitions from the angels and archangels that descended to Earth to help and teach humankind.
I was born and raised a Roman Catholic. That foundation shines through this book. As I grew spiritually, I embraced many spiritual philosophies. Note that this is not a religious book but a metaphysical, spiritual perspective to help everyone who reads it.
For as long as I can remember, angels have been part of my daily life. As a child, I felt and saw them in my mind’s eye and called on their help whenever I was afraid or needed guidance. It was normal to manifest an angel, or a group of angels, while I slept, ate, walked to school, took tests, and all the things we do as children. Knowing that the everyday angels were always available and at my side has helped me have a much happier and more spiritual life. Established in childhood, these core beliefs are important factors in the spiritually focused woman I have become.
As I researched and wrote about the saints in this book, many fond memories returned to me. I remember sitting on the “girl’s side of the church” at Our Lady of Angels, my parish church and grade school in Brooklyn, New York. As I knelt praying, I gazed up at a large mural painted in the alcove at one entrance of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque. It portrayed an image of Jesus Christ with His crown of thorns, showing his Sacred Heart illuminated and pouring light from the palm of His hand and His Sacred Heart onto Saint Margaret Mary. I was named after this saint because her feast day is close to the day I was born.
During the summer, while writing this book, I came across a cookie tin that belonged to my mother. In it, I found scapulars, medals, and holy cards. Most scapulars were dedicated to Saint Simon Stock and Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The medals included the Miraculous Medal, a medal from the Shrine of the Little Flower of Brooklyn at Saint Peter Claver Church, and others dedicated to ensuring the grace of a happy death.
The holy cards are given out at the wake or the funeral of the dearly departed. My mother’s holy cards included Preghiera alla Beata Vergine del Carmine, Saint Margaret Mary’s Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Infant of Prague, Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, Saint Rocco, and San Michele Arcangelo. Other prayer cards memorialized the lives of my ancestors, some of which are in the Italian language from the early 1900s.
The comforting influence of the existence of saints and holy people who have experienced visions, feelings of intense pleasure and joy, and an affluent spiritual life that includes a closeness to God or the Divine created a foundation for my spiritual life. The number of saints to learn about and write about is profound. This book includes the saints, who are the ones that I am likely to petition for assistance.
CHAPTER 1
CONNECTIONS WITH ARCHANGELS AND SAINTS
The Divine creates angels and archangels to assist in the evolution of mortals. They are helpers that light our path to help us remember agreements we made before incarnation.
Angels are ministers and messengers. They are intermediaries between God-Goddess-Creator and humans. They, too, are luminous beings of light and are humans’ invisible helpers. Upon request, they assist us in everyday affairs to help ease the mundane aspects of life so we can evolve and focus attention on our spiritual life. Requests for help are petitions and prayers that are said aloud or telepathically.
Archangels are androgynous, neither masculine nor feminine. Based on our personal experience, angels will appear or feel feminine or masculine. It’s a personal preference. It is not imperative to name the gender but to align with what is comfortable or makes sense. For example, Archangel Gabriel feels more like a female vibration to me. When I connect with this angel, she is Archangel Gabrielle, not Gabriel. Regardless, every angel and archangel is androgynous with no gender identity. Ultimately, the pronouns aren’t the point of connecting with the angel. It is the part that they play in your life that is important.
The archangels are Divine messengers closest to Earth. They are dedicated to working with Earth, specifically humans, as well as the animals, plants, and gemstone kingdoms. They are luminous beings of light with Divine intelligence. Although artists through the ages have portrayed them as humans with wings
and flowing robes, they are actually beings of light, color, and vibration. Their appearance in dreams and apparitions as humans or winged beings allows us the ease or comfort needed to release fear and listen to the message from these Divine messengers.
Saints are those who have been recognized for an exceptional spiritual life. They have a closeness to God that is palpable and has performed miracles. Saints can be found in various religious philosophies, though this book is to help you connect with amazing saints based on Christian history. A quality of a saint is that they are benevolent, kind, and do good for others and the world. Saints are good models and good teachers. A saint intervenes on your behalf based on petitions or prayers, asking for help and guidance.
We can strive to demonstrate and emulate many characteristics of saints. These characteristics are generosity, integrity, loving-kindness, loyalty, and sincerity. Saints are wise people who have gained spiritual powers to help mankind.
Special Note: Extremes aren’t necessary to emulate a saint’s positive characteristics. Many saints are from noble families and denounced their wealth, often using all of it to care for those less fortunate. While this is noble, I don’t believe you need to give everything away to others but rather learn a balanced approach to philanthropy and use these teachings for personal improvement and spiritual development.
Gabriel, Michael, and Raphael are often called saints, which can lead to confusion because saints are humans who have lived on Earth and archangels are spiritual beings that have not incarnated. There have been references in the Bible where these three archangels are called saints. To clarify, Gabriel, Michael, and Raphael are archangels.
Talking with archangels and saints is easy. Imagine their energy standing or sitting near you as they listen to your feelings, fears, hopes, and dreams. Use visualization and activate your ability to manifest. Hold a gemstone and inhale an aroma to amplify the angelic interaction experience. Then, tell the angels how you would like their help and support.
You will be inspired by reading this book, and it will help you formulate what you want so you can clearly express your request for assistance. Be as clear and specific as possible, then consider adding this statement, “May this or something better become manifest reality.”
Vibrational Assistance from Divine Messengers—Archangels and Saints
Archangels and saints are throughout this book’s A to Z guide and other sections. Use the appendixes for easy reference to find out whom to invoke to help you. Call upon this entourage of archangels and saints when creating and using essential oil blends and crystal and gemstone compilations.
Whether conscious of them or not, you have many invisible helpers around you every moment. Visualize them or know a large group of invisible helpers is ready to aid you. They’re watching over you, inspiring you, and guiding you through your path through life. They’re with you 24-7, whether you are sleeping or awake. They’re just a thought away when you’re ready to be conscious of them.
Angels and saints from many spiritual traditions have a vibration and provide energetic assistance to us upon request. Because humans have free will, archangels and saints must be asked to assist or intervene on our behalf.
The personalities and qualities of these spiritual beings bring many positive vibes to your spiritual table. The legions of archangels and saints provide a mystical connection to the essential oils discussed throughout this book. These beings of love, light, and well-being can easily become part of your spiritual entourage as you navigate your life during your time here on Earth.
This book will teach you about the twenty-six archangels and thirty-two saints, plus a section on the people surrounding Jesus while he was on the planet. The chapter titled “Jesus and His Spiritual Connections” is dedicated to Mother Mary; his earthly father, Saint Joseph; his grandmother, Saint Anne; and the Twelve Apostles.
As I mentioned earlier, there are many saints to connect with, and I chose the ones I relate to the most. You will learn which archangels and saints to call on to help you create a balanced life. The angelic realm is waiting for you to permit them to help.
Whether calling on a saint or an archangel, you must request their assistance. They respond to thoughts and “hear” what you think if you want them to help To gain assistance, consider the type of assistance you need or want. Determine the area of life to which it pertains. Then, ask the archangel or saint to guide you and inspire you to achieve that goal or intention. Use the recommended crystals, essential oils, colors, and affirmations that accompany the entity’s listing in this book until you realize your request has been answered.
You will know your request has been answered when you notice that you are no longer drawn to carry your gems with you or you have stopped saying the associated affirmations as often. Most likely, if you aren’t focused on the petitions, affirmations, or aromas, it could symbolize that you’ve integrated your request into your life. You can now move forward with your focus on another area of your life.
How to Use This Book
In the upcoming pages, you will discover the names or titles assigned to the luminous beings of light who are patiently waiting for your permission to assist you with living here on Earth. Likewise, the saints have dedicated their afterlife to continuing to serve humans. Each angel, archangel, and saint is described along with their associated gemstone, color, chakra, and scent.
These associations are adjunct tools that help you amplify your prayer or petition (the reason you are calling on the angel or saint) by helping you stay focused and clear on the desired outcome. Use a gemstone, an essential oil, mala beads, rosary beads, or your favorite tool to keep your mind focused on your intention. To keep the doorways to heavenly higher consciousness open and flowing, always maintain an intention of “this or something better will manifest.” Use the suggested petition, or let the petition inspire you to create your own. Repeat the affirmation associated with each angel to help amplify the potential for a positive outcome.
Here is an outline to get you started in your relationship with your angels. To start, identify the angels, the archangels, and/or the saints you want to help with your given intention. Then, write a petition to those chosen. Keep it simple and concise. You will find a suggested petition for each archangel and saint in this book. Keep one or more of the recommended gemstones nearby while you write and during the upcoming days, weeks, or months of manifestation. Carry the stones in your pocket or wear them in jewelry such as a ring, a pendant, or a bracelet. Use essential oils with the indicated scents or aromatic notes to activate your olfactory senses, which will further assist you in recognizing the realization of the requested action. Wear one or more of the suggested colors that match the archangel(s) and saint(s) on duty. Visualize and imagine the requested everyday angels and the associate archangels or saints starting the process. Visualization
Connections with Archangels and Saints 7
is one of the biggest keys to success. Repeatedly use the affirmation provided to help your intention manifest.
Finally, invite the supportive everyday angels to help you achieve your goals and intentions. These everyday angels have a specific energy, or “job description.” They can add quite a bit of angelic assistance as you work with the archangels and saints to design your reality and transform your life. Refer to Appendix A: Everyday Angels at the back of this book to learn which everyday angels can help you. Read more in greater detail in my book, The Essential Guide to Everyday Angels.
Visualization is the foundation and core for manifesting anything your heart desires. Visualize your life as if a certain situation already exists, and it will be so in very short order because whatever you focus on becomes a reality. Mindfulness and awareness of thoughts, words, and feelings are the keys to consciously creating circumstances.
The archangels and saints are your entourage. In this setting, you are the important person; these designated spiritual beings are your personal bodyguards and team players! Delegate and direct your team to assist you in achieving your goals and dreams. They will pave the way to creating the life you want and deserve.
Crystals, Colors, and Chakras
The crystals, colors, and chakras associated with each archangel or saint are listed as recommendations for focusing and awakening your spiritual, mental, emotional, and/or spiritual awareness. Contemplate how you relate to the crystals, colors, and chakras of the archangel or saint you are working with to deepen your spiritual awareness.
Crystals
Use the suggested crystals and gemstones as a sparkling tool to stay focused on your intentions and petitions to the archangels and saints. There are many ways to incorporate gems into your daily life. For the gems to be effective, establish an intention that matches why you called on a particular archangel and saint. Place one or more of the suggested gemstones in your pocket or desk. Wear the crystals and gemstones in jewelry or decorative accessories to amplify your constant focus and attention. Place a crystal grid or create a little altar with gemstones as a reminder of your intended goal.
Read about the various ways to use crystals in one or more of my books, especially in The Essential Guide to Crystals, Minerals, and Stones. See the resource section at the back of this book to learn more.
Colors
Use a color that is a vibrational match for the archangel or saint and area of life you wish to work on. Wearing these colors and using them in other ways helps you stay focused on being conscious and aware that you are working with that saint or angel in each situation. These colors will also help tie you to the chakras that support the areas of your life you want to work on. Let the color be a reminder for mindfulness to reestablish your intention every time you look at the color of your clothing or the placement of a particular color. Using color as a tool for focus will assist you in maintaining your attention on what you want to achieve instead of what you don’t want in your life.

Essential Oils
Included with the entry for each archangel and saint, you will find suggested essential oils to awaken your awareness and amplify your focus on your ultimate outcome. As you create blends with these essential oils, remember that water has a memory and carries it within our thoughts and prayers. Using blessed or intentional water with the recommended essential oils amplifies the prayer request, sending the petition off on a strong beam of light.
Aromatherapy is a huge part of a litany of gifts from the earth. Extracting the essential oil from the flowers, plants, barks, and roots is another level of receiving the garden’s magic and nature. Take a journey toward mental, emotional, and physical health with the power of the treasures from the earth.
Some saints emit aromas. It is called the odor of sanctity. The fragrance comes from the person or their presence before or after death. Saint Teresa of Ávila is said to have emitted heavenly scents upon her death. Saint Thérèse of Lisieux smelled like roses when she died, and the aroma was still noticeable for nine months after she was buried. Padre Pio’s stigmata gave off the odor of sanctity from the wounds—a combination of roses and pipe tobacco.
Saint Mary Magdalene is the patron saint of perfumers. She is referred to as the woman with the alabaster jar filled with spikenard, which she rubbed on the feet of her husband, Jesus, to lessen the intensity of the beatings and crucifixion.
Essential oils have a true effect on activating memory and healing for inner peace and restoration. You can use an essential oil on many levels—for example, to relieve physical ailments such as respiratory challenges, to enhance your mental acuity, to heal emotional issues such as sadness or embarrassment, and to deepen spiritual practice.
Connections with Archangels and Saints 11
Accessing your memory bank and stored belief systems through aromatherapy and its gemstone allies is important for self-awareness. It can help you uncover pent-up emotions and feelings stored in your body, mind, or spirit at a time in your life when you are feeling blocked or heavy but don’t know why. Recalling the memory of an emotional incident from childhood can be triggered by the scent of birch, vanilla, or cinnamon, for example. One scent may flood your consciousness with warmth and comfort, while another might call up anxiety and fear. The key is to remember the source, exact incident, or series of events involved in that trigger to release it, heal it, and move on, free of the cords binding you. When you apply or diffuse the suggested essential oils, you are engaging your olfactory nerve and signaling to your brain and energy body that you manifest your intentions with the help of the requested angelic assistance. By engaging the limbic system of your brain (the part that deals with emotion and memory) with the scent, you are establishing another tool for mindful thinking. Always use essential oils in alignment with established aromatherapy guidelines. Professional organizations such as the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) and the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA) post safety considerations and guidelines on their websites for using essential oils in all circumstances. Read more about each essential oil in my book, The Essential Guide to Aromatherapy and Vibrational Healing
Zodiac
Astrology is an art and a science. Astrologers use the placement of the planets in the signs and houses of zodiac charts like a blueprint to help others know themselves better. They study the placement of the sun, moon, and planets and the geometric connections for self-awareness and personal improvement. There are many options regarding which zodiac sign or astrological influence is associated with the archangels.
Note: I have not included a zodiac sign for each saint. I matched up the astrological signs for each archangel based on their heavenly work. This information and insight are based on my more than three decades of study with many different astrology teachers from many different traditions. Remember, too, that there’s more than one astrological influence in everyone’s personal natal charts (also called a birth chart, a map of where the planets were
at the moment of one’s birth). We are each so much more than our Sun signs, which you are probably most familiar with.
Understanding the link between these archangels and the zodiac can be highly beneficial. Knowing the traits associated with your sign and the archangel to call upon when you need guidance is vital to your growth.
Supportive Everyday Angels
The archangels and saints have associated everyday angels, adding another layer of spiritual connection. Everyday angels are messenger angels of high rank. They have specific qualities that help them with current life challenges or requests for assistance. Everyday angels help you upon request. You must ask for their guidance because they can only intervene if you ask them. Be as specific as possible, as they are around you to assist you here on Earth. They can help you when petitioned for a specific purpose in alignment with the Divine plan.
Divine Guidance
Divine Guidance can be used as an oracle for uncovering self-knowledge and self-realization for the purpose of personal development and spiritual awakening. Read this section within each archangel or saint entry and contemplate how this relates to your life at this time.
Petitions and Prayers
Petitions, a form of prayer, are earnest requests for something to happen, transform, or change. These petitions are addressed to the angels assigned to a particular area of life. Inviting God to be the main recipient of your petition is very effective, with the specific angels, archangels, and saints as additional addressees. After all, angels are messengers between humans and God. And saints have proven to be able to create miracles.
Some petitions are made in writing. Though it isn’t necessary to write your prayer requests, writing the petition to specific angels and saints often helps clarify and delineate the actions needed to achieve a goal or a state of being. Written petitions are effectively created in letter format. Additionally, your thoughts and writing action bring the request closer to manifest reality. Bringing your request into manifest reality means that your words and thoughts become real physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Manifesting is the active form of prayer. Asking the angels to be part of your team as cocreators and helpers adds conscious awareness to your intention to align with the Divine (God). Meditation and inquiry are passive forms of prayer—to sit, wait, listen, and grow. Say the petitions in this book out loud or repetitively within your consciousness.
Petitions are prayer requests. Typically, a petition is a formal written request signed by people asking an authority to take a specific action. While putting your prayer request in writing is unnecessary, it can be a cathartic part of journaling and contemplative thought. You will have equally effective results from reading and repeating the petition. The petitions listed with each archangel and saint are provided to give you some ideas when you are ready to ask for help and guidance. Talk with the saints and archangels like you would talk to your best friend or a very close family member. The angels have the duty to be the intermediaries between humans and the Divine. To perform their duties, they must be asked. Let yourself pray. Petition these divine beings. Let them help you.
Affirmations
Affirmations are positive statements to aid you in shifting your thoughts and intentions to your intended outcome or goal. Repeat the positive affirmations associated with a given archangel and saint to amplify your focus on the positive changes while these thoughts are eliminating negative or self-sabotaging thoughts. Match the affirmation with the sparkling gemstones and color you’ve chosen to assist you. When inhaling the essential oil or looking at the chosen gemstone and color, bring the affirmation to mind. These affirmations are designed to assist you on all levels—mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
The Seven Archangels
References to the seven archangels exist in various religious and ancient texts. The concept of seven archangels is found in early Jewish literature and referenced as the angels who serve God directly. The spelling of the archangels’ names varies; sometimes an archangel has multiple names listed throughout this book. How important is the right spelling? Not as important as what that archangel represents and how you can call on a given archangel to help you with your life. How important is it that an angel is considered one of the seven archangels? In this case, I’ll say it’s a little more important because that means that various holy
and wise people have considered that archangel as a very high-ranking spiritual being with affluent divinity. The seven archangels include:
– Archangel Michael—The Protector and Defender
– Archangel Gabriel—The Messenger of God
– Archangel Raphael—The Healer of Physical Illness
– Archangel Uriel—The Pillar of Divine Strength
– Archangel Jophiel—The Giver of Joy
– Archangel Chamuel—The Peacekeeper
– Archangel Zadkiel—The Guide of Life Paths
The Twelve Archangels: Why Stop at Seven Archangels?
The Eastern Orthodox Church and Eastern Catholic Churches of the Byzantine tradition venerate seven archangels and sometimes an eighth: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Jehudiel, Barachiel, Jeremiel, and sometimes Azrael is listed as an eighth.
Throughout this book, I’ll refer to an archangel as being one of the seven archangels. If you were to count every time that an archangel is considered as one of the seven, it wouldn’t add up. Regardless of the variation in archangels, it is more important to recognize that the main task of archangels is to be messengers of God and carry out his wishes.
I relate to these twelve main archangels: Ariel, Chamuel, Gabriel, Jophiel, Metatron, Michael, Raphael, Raziel, Sandalphon, Thuriel, Uriel, and Zadkiel. Other lists include Haniel, Jeremiel, and Raguel.
Does it matter which twelve are considered the main twelve? Not really—at least not from my perspective. The important piece is allowing yourself to connect with these high spiritual beings who are close to God. They are messengers of God, and they are intermediaries between you and the Divine (God).
