Tasked by client to provide a modernized ground floor building amenity space and to redesign outdoor courtyard. Entry space includes a lounge area with custom millwork wall boards and a double height space lit with NuMat panels. The secondary space features a coffee bar and a game room, complimented by custom leather and brick veneer finishes. The exterior courtyard is comprised of a large scale trellis spanning over a bar area and a fire pit. The design team wanted to distinguish the outdoor space from competitors with the fire pit and the atmosphere it brings. Project was a design-build construction, and remained within budget due to economic finishes and millwork strategies. Met constraints with DOB filing due to an existing structure in the rear courtyard, and had to file spaces separately as Alt 1 and Alt 2.
My role included: - Client liaison - Involved in consultant coordination with lighting, millwork and structural - Trellis and millwork design studies - Researched and coordinated sample and finishes - Worked on full documentation set - Completed submittals - Created and coordinated furniture package 4

LARGE OFFICE BUILDING REPOSITIONING Stamford, Connecticut
2019
MARKETPLACE BUILT; FITNESS CENTER UNDERGOING CONSTRUCTION`
Existing site consisted of three distinct buildings connected by large scale atrium space. Scope was to convert two floors of office space into building amenities such as a fitness center, a conference center, and a marketplace. My main role for the project was to study and create ceiling design elements for two iconic spaces in the redesign. For the fitness center, we took advantage of the lightness and scale of the central atrium conditions to enclose and convert a portion of it for a yoga studio within the fitness center. The design of the yoga studio ceiling involved draping metal mesh over suspended light fixtures, creating a trapezed art installation for users to observe within the yoga studio and the upper floors of the atrium. My role included: - Involved in consultant coordination with lighting and ceilings - Yoga studio and marketplace ceiling design studies - Supported lead designer
8
- Produced and prepared work for design presentations - Worked on full documentation set - Completed submittals

Modernized marketplace with updated finishes, custom millwork, and a variety of seating configurations. One of the major design elements of that space include a linear wood modular system that hangs over the central eating area. Wood ceiling panel corners were suspended at different heights and interlock to create a folded effect. 10

Merritt 7 Norwalk, Connecticut
2018-2020
501 + 301 COMPLETED AND BUILT; 601 UNDERGOING BIDDING PROCESS
The Merritt 7 corporate campus is named after its location in Norwalk, Connecticut: at the crossroads of 7 interstate and the Merritt highway. The campus consists of seven buildings that were built consecutively from 1980 to 2002. The original RFP called for renovations at buildings 501, 601, and the plaza centered between them. The team approached the Merritt 7 project originally as a masterplan concept in order to connect the campus literally and architecturally. Because a river cuts through the property, separating the southern portion containing 401, 501, 601 from the northern half containing, 101, 201, and 301, we decided to connect the two halves with a boardwalk. The newly renovated plaza designed with amphitheater seating at 501 would be one end of the “riverwalk” and the 301 dining area would be the other, offering people the opportunity to connect to their natural surroundings and access the amenities across the campus. Along the boardwalk one would encounter different programmed areas or nodes, such as the yoga lawn, the river theatre, and the reading room.
AMPHITHEATER AT 501/601 PLAZA
Due to budgetary reasons, the scope of the project significantly decreased and the masterplan concept became a day two item. The project then focused on a new multi-purpose room at 501, a cafe expansion and refresh at 301, and a new lobby and food hall concept at 601. The scope included architectural design in the expansions and storefront designs at 501 and 601; and food service and interior design at all three buildings. We worked closely with a food consultant and lighting consultant to meet budget requirements and client’s requests. My role included:
12
- Client liaison - Involved in consultant coordination with lighting, structural, and food service - Led client design presentations - Produced and prepared design presentations - Architectural and interior design studies - Test fits for multi-purpose room functions
RIVER THEATRE - Researched and coordinated sample and finishes - Worked on full documentation set - Completed submittals, field reports, and punch lists - Art directed and coordinated marketing renders with rendering company - Created marketing renders for client

The multi-purpose room at 501 was designed to accommodate various functions and act as a campus amenity. Included in the design was bleacher seating along the back wall to offer a variety of seating and gathering, and provide seating in a townhall or cocktail party setting. Operable partitions at the plaza were the other major design component, allowing the room to expand and spill out on to the plaza in warmer months, and have a direct connection to adjacent building, 601.

The major design components at 301 were the addition of a new food servery counter and market bar, new finishes, and decorative lighting. With new bold finishes and fun lighting fixtures, we able to give the servery and dining area a much-needed refresh. 14

The redesign of 601 involved building out the ground floor storefront to create a larger lobby and food hall, and to create a more distinct relationship to the plaza and 501 with the use of operable partitions. The lobby design included a new mesh grid ceiling with integrated lighting, a porcelain tile feature wall, a wood panel wall, and a new reception desk. Adjacent to the lobby is a flex room designed with a corner moving partition, and is programmed as a lounge or coworking space, or a secure conference room.

UNBUILT; SCHEMATIC PHASE
The programmatic and square footage requirements for this masterplan competition equated the scale of a small city. The site was close to an international airport and was designated an attractor for a new suburban city, with a dense and urban feel. A major design strategy of the site was to break the site into quadrants, demarcated with two axis of open landscape. The north west corner of the site includes a large scale luxury mall with a sculptural glass and metal panelized roof, commercial office towers, and an iconic gateway into the community. Residential towers take up the majority of the site and sit on top of commodity retail and community amenities such as schools, health and care centers, and religious spaces.
My role included: - Produced and prepared work for internal design meetings and overall competition package - Planning and architectural design studies - Zoning and square footage analysis - Used grasshopper scripting to assist with design studies and analyze site square footage 18

THESIS PROJECT IN COLLABORATION WITH SAMPATH PEDIREDLA
In 2100 it has been projected that levels of CO2 will cause a temperature increase of 8C. Temperature increases affect the quality of air and allow smog and greenhouse gases to exacerbate. Smog affects its physical and atmospheric qualities of public space; decreases visibility, and destroys the sense of vast open space. Culture in New Delhi heavily relies on open public space for celebrations and political rallies. However, in today’s climate, smog has begun to intrude on the city. The Ramlila Maidan, a significant cultural ground that sits between the fringes of the Old City and new city, and acts as a flexible public space. Changes in social formations puts the outdoor spaces at the risk of abandonment. Traditions will either cease to exist or must adapt, in terms of scale and program, to combat the effects of smog. It’s the year 2050 and pollution has reached extreme levels especially in New Delhi. The Ramlila Maidan sits unused due to smog. The TATA conglomerate has launched a competition requesting people to rethink the role and use of public space in a polluted environment. Our project seeks to investigate how to “reclaim the public space” of the maidan, for both an individual and a large gathering of people, and adapt it to a new environment. We are considering the definition of public space and how to preserve its meaning if we place an enclosed, built form on the maidan in order to provide clean air for its users. The use of inflatables allows us to create open public space, that can be sealed during days of extreme smog. Inflatables can hermetically seal clean air spaces, but we adapted this system to a more dynamic use. Instead of inhabiting the inflatable, it interacts with the site to seal space.

The inflatables fly high on a clear day, where particulate concentration is low.
< PHYSICAL MODEL IMAGES We explored different types of inflatables to develop the form of the overall project, and the basic mechanics. 23

As cloud cover increases, the inflatables lower down to seal the lower level pockets.
Using a cable anchor system, the inflatables are reeled in and sealed with a magnetic connection. This magnetic trim runs along the edge of the inflatable.

PROPOSED MASTERPLAN
Our approach is to transform the public space and to stimulate the housing project within the neighborhood. This was accomplished by densifying the ground floor with commercial space, and add new housing units to upper levels. The new housing units could be an extension of NYCHA or become market-rate rentals, in order to diversify the site. The commercial units on the ground floor would offer space for different programs, such as restaurants, boutiques, artisanal craft stores, bookstores, childcare, makerspace, exercise and gym facilities, delis, pharmacies and supermarkets.
HISTORICAL CONTEXT
The project was prompted to rethink public space in public housing, specifically the NYCHA Farragut Houses project, located in Vinegar Hill, adjacent to downtown Brooklyn. The houses were originally built to house workers of the Navy Yard during the years of economic and industrial stimuli. Today, the majority of renters fall under the poverty line creating a stigma around the housing project and place it in social isolation.
The overall intent is to make the site into a destination for “outsiders” and provide amenities for the “insiders”. This project aims to support the vibrant neighborhood culture of Vinegar Hill in the pre-war era; to recreate human-scale blocks and a neighborhood that people can sustainably and comfortably live in.

Another aspect of the project is the park on the eastern side of the site. With the creation of the dense neighborhood blocks is the loss of the green space existing now at the Farragut Houses. The park becomes the most public aspect of the proposal, and acts as a mediation space between the neighborhood and the Navy Yard. Workers at the Navy Yard, renters in the housing project, and people visiting the neighborhood can all interact within the park.

PROJECT IN COLLABORATION WITH ADA MITCHEV
This boathouse project focuses on unifying, yet distinguishing the community and Columbia, as well as the form of building and the land. Looking at overall site conditions, we read the directionality of the site as parallel to the water and wanted to have circulation follow this same flow. The building form sits between the hill and the water, but with massive infill we rooted our form into the land. By doing this, the building and the landscape have a stronger connection and appear to blend into each other at entry level, but physically remain fragmented due to retaining walls.
As the building form rises out of the ground, the walls parallel to the water become porous and aesthetically lighter, yet the fin walls remain structurally sound and help support the roof. The site has a history of land manipulation, speaking of the new football stadium and Athletic Center down the road. The overall intent of the project is to create a building that is integrated physically and socially with its site. To create a project with distinct attitudes of density and fragmentation.

The roof appears to float on the fin walls, but is supported by interior tension trusses and extended purlins. The roof is meant to be a light subject in the scheme, which grows from the land and peels up as it reaches the water side. The roof has been faulted in the directions of major circulation and its perpendicular. These cracks in the roof bring in light to the conditioned spaces. One section of the roof is directly connected to the ground and suggest circulation. 36 35 34 33 32 36 31 35 30 34 29 33 28 32 27 31 26 30 25 29 24 28 23 27 22 26 21 25 20 24 19 23 18 22 17 21 16 20 15 19 14 18 13 17 12 16 11 15 10 14 9 13 8 12 7 11 6 10 5 9 4 8 3 7 2 6 1 5 0FT 4 3 2 1 0FT

The form of the building is four separate units that are buried in the ground, but connected with a larger open space on the entry level. A crack in the ground has been designed to allow ventilation and light into the Columbia boathouse, which was initially surrounded by land, whereas the public shed receives ventilation through the floating roof. This level is also buried in the earth, but allows for cracks and a bleed of the land.
These cracks separate the form and land to create view access points and transitional space towards the water. The upper level back to the multi-purpose room, which follows the major fault line of the roof. The wraparound boardwalk provides entry to the adjacent tennis center and has access from entry and the parking lot. V FORMAL DIAGRAMS
