THESIS PROJECT IN COLLABORATION WITH SAMPATH PEDIREDLA
In 2100 it has been projected that levels of CO2 will cause a temperature increase of 8C. Temperature increases affect the quality of air and allow smog and greenhouse gases to exacerbate. Smog affects its physical and atmospheric qualities of public space; decreases visibility, and destroys the sense of vast open space. Culture in New Delhi heavily relies on open public space for celebrations and political rallies. However, in today’s climate, smog has begun to intrude on the city. The Ramlila Maidan, a significant cultural ground that sits between the fringes of the Old City and new city, and acts as a flexible public space. Changes in social formations puts the outdoor spaces at the risk of abandonment. Traditions will either cease to exist or must adapt, in terms of scale and program, to combat the effects of smog. It’s the year 2050 and pollution has reached extreme levels especially in New Delhi. The Ramlila Maidan sits unused due to smog. The TATA conglomerate has launched a competition requesting people to rethink the role and use of public space in a polluted environment. Our project seeks to investigate how to “reclaim the public space” of the maidan, for both an individual and a large gathering of people, and adapt it to a new environment. We are considering the definition of public space and how to preserve its meaning if we place an enclosed, built form on the maidan in order to provide clean air for its users. The use of inflatables allows us to create open public space, that can be sealed during days of extreme smog. Inflatables can hermetically seal clean air spaces, but we adapted this system to a more dynamic use. Instead of inhabiting the inflatable, it interacts with the site to seal space.
4
The inflatables fly high on a clear day, where particulate concentration is low.
< PHYSICAL MODEL IMAGES We explored different types of inflatables to develop the form of the overall project, and the basic mechanics. 5

A clear day site plan that shows the redesigned landscape of the maidan, which includes a perimeter boardwalk, sport fields, public stair for gathering, and excavated pockets that become enclosed when the inflatable descends.
Different scenarios showing the rise and fall of the inflatables.
7
As cloud cover increases, the inflatables lower down to seal the lower level pockets.
Using a cable anchor system, the inflatables are reeled in and sealed with a magnetic connection. This magnetic trim runs along the edge of the inflatable.

PROPOSED MASTERPLAN
Our approach is to transform the public space and to stimulate the housing project within the neighborhood. This was accomplished by densifying the ground floor with commercial space, and add new housing units to upper levels. The new housing units could be an extension of NYCHA or become market-rate rentals, in order to diversify the site. The commercial units on the ground floor would offer space for different programs, such as restaurants, boutiques, artisanal craft stores, bookstores, childcare, makerspace, exercise and gym facilities, delis, pharmacies and supermarkets.
HISTORICAL CONTEXT
The project was prompted to rethink public space in public housing, specifically the NYCHA Farragut Houses project, located in Vinegar Hill, adjacent to downtown Brooklyn. The houses were originally built to house workers of the Navy Yard during the years of economic and industrial stimuli. Today, the majority of renters fall under the poverty line creating a stigma around the housing project and place it in social isolation.
The overall intent is to make the site into a destination for “outsiders” and provide amenities for the “insiders”. This project aims to support the vibrant neighborhood culture of Vinegar Hill in the pre-war era; to recreate human-scale blocks and a neighborhood that people can sustainably and comfortably live in.

PROPOSED SITE PLAN
With the use of new exterior cladding materials, the existing towers can blend into the new construction. The proposed density of the site allows for more organic experiences on an individual and communal scale.

Another aspect of the project is the park on the eastern side of the site. With the creation of the dense neighborhood blocks is the loss of the green space existing now at the Farragut Houses. The park becomes the most public aspect of the proposal, and acts as a mediation space between the neighborhood and the Navy Yard. Workers at the Navy Yard, renters in the housing project, and people visiting the neighborhood can all interact within the park.

BUILDING AMENITY LOUNGE MANHATTAN, NEW YORK
2019
Tasked by client to provide a modernized ground floor building amenity space and to redesign outdoor courtyard. Entry space includes a lounge area with custom millwork wall boards and a double height space lit with NuMat panels. The secondary space features a coffee bar and a game room, complimented by custom leather and brick veneer finishes. The exterior courtyard is comprised of a large scale trellis spanning over a bar area and a fire pit. The design team wanted to distinguish the outdoor space from competitors with the fire pit and the atmosphere it brings. Project was a design-build construction, and remained within budget due to economic finishes and millwork strategies. Met constraints with DOB filing due to an existing structure in the rear courtyard, and had to file spaces separately as Alt 1 and Alt 2.
My role included: - Client liaison - Involved in consultant coordination with lighting, millwork and structural - Trellis and millwork design studies - Researched and coordinated sample and finishes - Worked on full documentation set - Completed submittals - Created and coordinated furniture package 14

Zoning analysis Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
2017
UNBUILT; SCHEMATIC AND ANALYSIS STAGE
Asked by client to analyze site for constraints and opportunities, and to produce feasible tower schemes that met programmatic and zoning requirements. Overall tower use is residential with ground floor retail, parking garage, and connection to the adjacent building on North 22nd St. The drawing to the right is the overall zoning envelope for the site and overall massing opportunities. On the adjacent page, are drawings of the three major schemes the team developed for the client. The three schemes exhibit different architectural styles and offer different numbers of residential units, ranging from a max out tower to a mid-sized, boutique apartment.

green bath co. independent work
2020
This project was designed and developed out of an interest in sustainable health and beauty care. My friend gifted me handmade soaps and inspired me to make own soap and design an ad campaign for it. The collage below contains imagery that resonated with the brand and identity I was seeking to convey. The artwork to the right and sketches were my first drafts of materials and branding. On the following page, are two campaigns strategies I would employ, via graphics and photography.
Note: These images were found online to curate a mood and I do not claim property to any of them.

PERSONALITY ISSUES independent work
2020
I have a strong interest in fashion and curation, specifically shoes and accessories, and this project was the culmination of that. Using my own shoes and my sister’s accessories, I directed 14 styles and moods. In addition I photographed and edited graphics onto the photos that I felt emphasized the style of each. I wanted the exhibition to feel like a fashion magazine editorial and formatted the 14 pieces as Polaroids. The names were a reflection of influences in my life such as pop culture, my hobbies, and inside jokes.

MAKEUP PALETTE independent work
2020
The illustrations to the right are an abstraction of space that exhibit specific tensions and relations of color, form and composition. The color palette was inspired by the latest “millennial pastel” color trends and other expressive makeup designs. Designed for someone that wants to shake up their typical makeup routine with bold and bright colors; for the “super funky” person. A multi-functional makeup palette that will streamline one’s makeup routine and simplify options. Each pan in the palette is multi-purpose and can be used as a highlighter, blush or eyeshadow.
Note: These images were found online to curate a mood and I do not claim property to any of them.

FRUIT SALAD independent work
2020
Inspired by baroque and modern eclectic wallpapers, these graphic patterns were created to be used as digital banners, backgrounds, or stand on their own as illustrations. The three fruits featured include bananas (my least favorite), a collection of the citrus family, and figs (my favorite).

ILLUSTRATIONS independent work
2020
With my background in architecture, I made these drawings to capture space in an abstract way. I frequently sketch some vignettes and wanted to digitize the drawings. These illustrations are meant to stand on their own as artwork. The space and design of the buildings reflect styles of residential architecture that I admire.
