In the early hours of Aug. 15, there was a water line break at the LloydMall, causing significant damage to the majority of the retailers and forcing the shopping centre to close until further notice. “Due to that water line break, LloydMall continues to be temporarily closed at the moment, however, that being said, some of our retailer’s that have exterior entrances are open for business at this time,” said Shannon McEwen, marketing coordinator for LloydMall. “Safeway, Shoppers Drug Mart, Ace Liquor and Dollarama are currently open.” Due to the extent of the damage, LloydMall doesn’t have an update on a reopening date, but that information will be released “when it’s appropriate.” Local restoration companies currently working on the project include First OnSite and First General Ser-
vices. Additional contractors have been brought in for the work at the request of individual businesses for insurance reasons.
“
It was an unfortunate event and we really just ask that the public and the community continues to understand and support our retailers.
“There was significant damages from the flooding and crews continue to work around the clock to get the mall reopened as soon as possible,” she said. “The retailers are working quickly to reopen the centre safely. It’s a matter of making sure that, when we do reopen, the building is safe for our community and our shoppers.” CONTINUED ON PAGE 3
