Look out! Look out! Jack Frost is about! He s after your fingers & toes! Cecily Pike

The Norse legend of Jack Frost originated in Scandinavia. He was the elf son of Kari, god of the winds, and his name there was Jokul, meaning jdjdmf and Frosti meaning gsptu. He would steal through towns in the night turning the town white and painting frost patterns on windows.

It s simply about water changing from a gas to a solid. When the _______ temper ature at ground level dips to the freezing temperature of water, 0 C (32 F), water _________ or mo isture in the air quickly freezes solid on cold surfaces. As this moisture ___________ fro ma gas (vapor) to a solid (ic e), it coats cold surfaces wi th a layer of small, needle-lik e __________ or tqjdvmft of ice. The size of the crystals dep ends on the amount of ______ _____ in the air, the time and the temperature. Frost ______ ____ first on cooler surfac es and in places where temperatu res dip lower.

Xibu ibqqfot; The ice and salt lower the temperature of the can s surface to cfmpx gsff{joh qpjou. The moisture in the air that touches the outside of the can freezes, thereby forming gsptu.

Ipbs gsptu is the name given to the surface frost that forms on the ground and other cold surfaces.

BOOKS Lies by Michael Grant, 2010 447 pages, ages 13 and up It’s been seven months since all the adults disappeared. Gone. It happens in one night. A girl who died now walks among the living; Zil and the Human Crew set fire to Perdido Beach; and amid the flames and smoke, Sam sees the figure of the boy he fears the most: Drake. But Drake is dead. Sam and Caine defeated him along with the Darkness—or so they thought. As Perdido Beach burns, battles rage: Astrid against the Town Council; the Human Crew versus the mutants; and Sam against Drake, who is back from the dead and ready to finish where he and Sam left off. And all the while deadly rumors are raging like the fire itself, spread by the prophetess Orsay and her companion, Nerezza. They say that death is a way to escape the FAYZ. Conditions are worse than ever and kids are desperate to get out. But are they desperate enough to believe that death will set them free?

Truth about the flu There’s no guaranteed way — including being vaccinated — to prevent anyone from getting the flu. But, the following precautions can help you and your family. First, you should always practice good hand washing, using soap and warm water and washing for at least 20 seconds. Just sing your ABCs while washing and you will have killed all bacteria. Stay home from work or school when you are sick and until you are fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication. The extra rest will be a huge benefit to your body and you’ll avoid getting others sick. Remember to always cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. This helps prevent the spread of germs. Use a tissue to keep clean and wash your hands afterward. If you haven’t done so already, get a flu vaccine. It will help keep you from getting certain strains of the flu virus and generally helps you recover quicker if you do get sick. Following those precautions will help keep you healthy, or at least, prepared in the event you catch the flu. - Jonita Widmer, Director of Health Services for Denton ISD
