Some offices closed for Memorial Day Staff report
City, county, state and federal government offices will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day. Public schools in Denton County and most Denton-area private and charter schools will also be closed. The Denton Record-Chronicle will also be closed Monday. If you do not receive your paper, call 940-566-6836. In Denton, all libraries and recreation facilities, except the pools, will be closed Monday and will resume regular hours Tuesday. Water Works Park will be open Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., the Civic Center Pool from noon to 6 p.m. and the Denton Natatorium from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. The city will not collect trash,
recycling or yard waste Monday. Instead, Denton crews will collect Monday’s route on Tuesday, Tuesday’s route on Wednesday, Wednesday’s route on Thursday and Thursday’s route on Friday. The landfill will be open from 7 a.m. to noon. The Denton Police Department can be reached at 940349-8181, but for an emergency, dial 911. To report a concern about a gas well, call the hotline at 940349-8GAS. To report a utility emergency, call dispatch at 940349-7000. While Denton Enterprise Airport administration offices will be closed, the air traffic control tower and flight services will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and the airfield will remain open 24 hours a day.
