BUMPY DRIVE A rundown of Denton’s most run-down roads
5A
Sunday, September 27, 2015
The Denton Record-Chronicle recently asked the city for a list of the worst thoroughfares in Denton. The City Council said recently it might direct more of the street budget toward keeping those busy streets in better repair. City staff provided a report that listed 59 segments that scored less than 10 points out of 100 on an overall condition index. Many streets had more than one segment that scored this low. This map highlights each low-scoring segment on the list the city provided. Record-Chronicle photographers hit the road to find the worst of the worst. Here’s a sample of the alligator cracks, potholes, patches and ground-up pavement Denton drivers navigate each day. See more at DentonRC.com. Paisley Street at Royal Meadows: Segments scored 8.48 and 9.91 out of 100.
West Windsor Drive between Westgate Drive and Carriage Hill Street scored 8.9 out of 100 on an overall condition index. Kings Row between Valley View Road and Sunnydale Lane: 6.25
Mockingbird Lane between Terry Court and Beverly Drive: 7.84
