Programs for Youth at the Denton Public Library Summer Reading Club Kickoff with Professor Brainius Friday, June 6 Two parts brainy and one part zany, Professor Brainius is a whole lab full of laughs combining science, music and entertainment for the whole family. Seating is limited and free tickets will be available starting an hour before show time on a first-come, first-served basis. For all ages. S3: EnviroKids Cosmic Jump; kids will visit with various City of Denton experts, see arcing demonstration, learn about the importance of protecting our environment, and more! S4: Rockin’ It Lake Mineral Wells State Park (9-12 yr olds)/Exposure Indoor Climbing Gym (5-8 yr olds); kids will practice climbing the rock wall at Denia, then step it up to the next level. S5: Havin’ a Ball Ranger Stadium and FC Dallas Stadium; kids will kick it oldschool style and play classic team sports and games, then watch “The Sandlot” on a big screen TV. At LAFF, children play with a variety of foods of different textures, tastes and temperatures to increase sensory experiences and improve oral intake. The girls team camp will be June 20-22 and the boys team camp will be June 27-29. Entry fee is $375. Each team can expect to play 8-10 games and players will receive a free t-shirt. The camp will be under the direction of the Ryan volleyball coaching staff and a few former players. The camp will be at Ryan High School and will be open for girls entering third grade to girls entering ninth grade. It costs $75 by May 16th, $80 after May 16th. PreCollege Camp Session I for high school level Instructor(s): Mary Karen Clardy; Deadline: May 1 These sessions emphasize musical performance and preparation. Daily classes include warm-up exercises, tone/technique development, and articulation studies, and provide opportunities for interaction of performer and listener.
