Programs for Youth at the Denton Public Library Summer Reading Club Kickoff with Professor Brainius Friday, June 6 Two parts brainy and one part zany, Professor Brainius is a whole lab full of laughs combining science, music and entertainment for the whole family. Seating is limited and free tickets will be available starting an hour before show time on a first-come, first-served basis.

S4: Rockin’ It Lake Mineral Wells State Park (9-12 yr olds)/Exposure Indoor Climbing Gym (5-8 yr olds); kids will practice climbing the rock wall at Denia, then step it up to the next level.

2014 Summer Programs June 16 – July 24 v Preschool Language Camp (PLC) – PLC is a fun camp for younger children that emphasizes language and social skills. The curriculum focuses on reinforcing and building upon basic speech and language skills. Beneficial for children between ages 3-5 years old.

Days: Tuesday & Thursday Time: 10:00 am to 11:30 am Cost: $250.00 v Language & Feeding with Friends (LAFF) – LAFF is a group feeding program for toddlers with sensory or motor based feeding disorders. At LAFF, children play with a variety of foods of different textures, tastes and temperatures to increase sensory experiences and improve oral intake.

Days: Tuesday & Thursday Time: 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm Cost: $250.00 v Preschool Articulation & Language Services (PALS) – PALS is a literacy-based approach to instruction that allows remediation of speech errors in context. The speech instruction includes phonological methods, sequential targeting of sounds patterns, phonological awareness activities and literacy based curriculum.

Days: Monday & Wednesday Time: 9:00 am – 12:30 pm Cost: 250.00 v Childhood Apraxia and Motor Planning (CHAMP) Camp – This intensive 10-day experience offers pre and post comprehensive evaluations, extensive individual therapy; small group sessions, as well as parent education sessions. The intensive therapy approach will incorporate the Principles of Motor Learning and will consider the learning style of each child to identify the appropriate cuing and support hierarchy and will target functional communication in the context of play-based and real world activities. Camp runs July 29, 2014 through August 7, 2014 (excluding Saturday and Sunday). Pre-testing on July 28, 2014 and post-testing on August 8, 2014 are by appointment only and are included in total camp cost. This camp has a selection process. Please call for more information.

Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Cost $250.00 v Individual Therapy – Slots for individual therapy for children and adults in the areas of speech disorders (including apraxia, articulation and phonological disorders), voice, fluency, language and literacy are available. All individual sessions are 50 minutes long.

The girls team camp will be June 20-22 and the boys team camp will be June 27-29. Entry fee is $375.

Volleyball Ryan Lady Raider Volleyball Camp will begin on June 9th and run until June 12th. The camp will be under the direction of the Ryan volleyball coaching staff and a few former players. The camp will be at Ryan High School and will be open for girls entering third grade to girls entering ninth grade. It costs $75 by May 16th, $80 after May 16th. The second annual “No Excuses� Softball Camp will be held at North Central Texas College

in Gainesville June 12-13. The camp will be conducted by college
