February 2008 Newsletter

Dear Friends, Together, we are reaching the unreached and touching the untouched people in remote places of the world. Wherever Jesus went, the kingdom of God was there. Where His Church goes the kingdom of God is there. Jesus' arrival released compassion and hungry people were fed, diseased people were healed, demonized people were set free. That is still true today as the Holy Spirit leads His Church in bringing closure to the Great Commission. The challenge before us is immense, reminiscent of the young boy that handed his lunch to Jesus before a crowd numbering thousands. That would be similar in contrast to a child today saying, “Ok, here’s my happy meal so you can feed that brigade of soldiers.” Matthew 14 sets the record for us. Verse 14: Jesus saw the huge crowd as He stepped from the boat, and He had compassion on them and healed their sick. The record of Jesus' miracles in the New Testament reveals that preceding the supernatural was the immediate release of God’s compassion on people. That is still true today. Verse 15 continues: That evening the disciples came to Him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.” The unreached live in “remote” places of the earth. It is still easier to take the position that says, “It’s too late to do anything for these people, send them away.” Verse 16: But Jesus said, “That isn’t necessary—you feed them.” Jesus always has resources we do not have. Jesus always uses His people to put shoe leather to the miracle.

Verse 17: “But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish!” they answered. My response, my typical first response can be summed up in, “I don’t have the money, the time, the skill, the ability to help these people.” Verses 18-21: “Bring them here,” He said. Then He told the people to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, He gave the bread to the disciples, who distributed it to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers. About 5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children!” First, we must place what we have in our hands into the hands of Jesus. Here we discover the tough part of this step: What we possess in our hands reveals the position of our heart. Yet, if in simple, childlike faith we place what little we have in God’s hands, He is wonderfully able to bless, break, and multiply the miracle. Everyone in His circle of touch is satisfied. The unreached are reached, the untouched are touched, the hungry are fed, the diseased are healed and the captive goes free. God gets the glory and our faith is increased. 2007 was a kingdom, quantum leap for Global Gateway Network, thanks be to God and you. You can see a 2007 overview on the GGN website. 2008 is gearing up with the Holy Spirit’s momentum to carry on what we have begun to a flourishing finish. On February 16, 2008, I met with the GGN board of directors. Together we placed our faith in Jesus and these loaves and fishes in His hands to produce the miracle and feed the crowd.
