Purpose In keeping with GGN’s mission of “making life better” for those around the world, GGN has organized this exciting mission adventure to the Center of Hope orphanage in Loc Binh, Vietnam. GGN built and has maintained this orphanage in northern Vietnam for almost five years, caring for 47-49 children. Numerous teams have visited Center of Hope, providing medical and dental care, clothing, toys, and education. The purpose of this mission adventure is to meet and interact with the children at Center of Hope; provide the children with clothing, toys, and personal hygiene items; and build a much-needed wall around the Center of Hope complex. We will also be visiting other cities and surrounding villages, touching people who need God’s love and care. Important Travel Information It is important to inform us of your travel plans by June 30, so we can prepare for your arrival in Seattle. You can submit your travel plans by emailing us at micahs68@gmail.com. Please include airline information, flight numbers, and arrival times. Also, let us know when you will be departing to return home. Currently we are planning to meet in Seattle, WA on July 26. The team will fly from Seattle to Hanoi and then drive north to Loc Binh. CENTER OF HOPE INFORMATION Hope for God’s Children In the spring of 2003, a memorandum of understanding was signed between GGN and the People's Committee of Loc Binh, Vietnam to build an orphanage that would care for 48 children. Within months after the agreement was signed, the construction of the orphanage began. In November 2003, children ages six through sixteen entered the Center of Hope orphanage. The Center of Hope is located approximately 150 kilometers north of Hanoi and 22 kilometers east of the provincial capital of Lang Son. The area around the orphanage is mostly rural with some surrounding mountains, including the region's highest mountain, Mau Son. The people living in the area are of varying ethnicities, as there are 54 minority ethnic groups in the country. They mostly work in the fields laboring hard to grow a variety of different crops – primarily rice. The children at Center of Hope attend school and are performing at or above present educational standards, according to the director of the Center of Hope and the local director of education. After school the children tend to several gardens at the orphanage and are always diligent to do their homework. Numerous teams have traveled to the Center of Hope, including a medical team and a dentist from the Pacific Northwest. During one particular visit in June 2005, over 600 people from the region were examined and treated. Following the activities of the medical team, International Children's Day was observed at the Center of Hope by 300 children through singing and dancing for the attendees. GGN is committed to improving the living conditions of the children at the Center of Hope. We want to see these young ones grow into successful citizens of Vietnam. At this time the orphanage is in need of financial resources to improve the water system for drinking and washing, rebuild the fence around the orphanage after a recent storm nearly destroyed the existing fence, and purchase a computer and bicycles.

The conquest of Vietnam by France began in 1858 and was completed by 1884. It became part of French Indochina in 1887. Vietnam declared independence after World War II, but France continued to rule until its 1954 defeat by Communist forces under Ho Chi MINH. Under the Geneva Accords of 1954, Vietnam was divided into the Communist North and anti-Communist South. US economic and military aid to South Vietnam grew through the 1960s in an attempt to bolster the government, but US armed forces were withdrawn following a cease-fire agreement in 1973. Two years later, North Vietnamese forces overran the South reuniting the country under Communist rule. Despite the return of peace, for over a decade the country experienced little economic growth because of conservative leadership policies. The country continues to experience protests from various groups, such as the Protestant Montagnard ethnic minority population of the Central Highlands and the Hoa Hao Buddhists in southern Vietnam over religious persecution. GGN is not responsible for obtaining passports, visas, and other travel documentation for travelers, unless otherwise indicated. Passports Passports are required for travel outside of the United States. The standard time for processing new passports or renewals is six to eight weeks. If you do not already have a passport, begin the process immediately. If you do already have a passport, check that it is accurate and valid up to six months after the date you plan to return from your trip. Answers to passport questions and necessary forms can be found at the US State Department website: www.travel.state.gov. Two copies of your passport must be sent to GGN at least two weeks prior to your trip. Visas Some countries require additional documentation for entry. Obtaining a visa is the responsibility of the participant. To find out if the country you are visiting requires a visa, please visit www.travisa.com. Immunizations As a traveler it is wise to be aware of any health risks that may be encountered on your trip. You can find details about required and recommended immunizations for the destination to which you will be traveling at the Center for Disease Control website: www.cdc.gov. During your required physical exam, ask your family doctor for additional information. Travel Insurance Travel insurance is not provided by GGN. Travel insurance is optional, but recommended. Most travel insurance policies are secondary to your primary health insurance. These policies typically cover trip cancellation, emergency evacuation, and limited medical emergencies.

Fundraising Ideas and Practices Write About It | A personal letter usually works the best. Tell your friends and family about your trip and why you are participating. Explain that you are going and giving to inspire others to give. Include some facts about GGN and the people you will be serving. Send your letter to everyone you know. In the envelope include a flyer, information on how to give, and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Get The Word Out Locally | Every day you visit many local businesses: the coffee shop, the gym, the car wash, the supermarket, the dry cleaner, the video store, the doctor’s office, the deli, the bike shop, the pizza place. These are great places to promote what you are doing. How? Just ask for money – businesses, too, can be donors...it’s tax deductible. Put a poster in the window, explaining what you’re doing and how to help. Display a donation box and/or letters and donation forms on the counter. Ask the business to donate a portion of their proceeds on a given day. Community Fundraising | Interacting with as many people as possible will be key to your fundraising. Plan some social events to bring people together for a cause. Plan a dinner. Set a price, proceeds will benefit your adopted cause. Theme party. Hold a theme party for 10 (or more) of your friends. Donation: $50.00 per person. Spend no more than $20.00 per person on the food and you’ll have $300.00 (or more) in donations by the end of the night. The Office | Your place of employment is a great place to get the word out. Your company might be happy to donate to your fundraising goal, maybe do a matching program. Send an email with donation information attached. Set up a small display – maybe hand a poster in a prominent place. Approach clients, vendors, anyone else your company does business with (make sure it’s okay with the boss). Host a lunchtime meeting and do a presentation. Go Paperless | The Internet and email have significantly affected the fundraising world. Use them to your advantage. Let people know through email that they can make donations on your behalf. Use Facebook, Myspace, or other social networking sites to post information. Auction old items of significance on eBay and donate the profits.

I understand that there are risks and dangers inherent in participating in the activities of Global Gateway Network (GGN), its partners, sponsors and beneficiaries. I acknowledge that such risks and dangers include, but are not limited to death, illness, serious bodily injury, and property loss. I also understand that in consideration for being permitted to participate in a GGN mission trip, I hereby take the following actions for myself as well as for my heirs, assigns, next of kin, successors, executors, administrators, and legal representatives: I herby release GGN, its sponsors, its partners and beneficiaries, its leaders, its employees, and volunteer staff from liability whatsoever arising out of injury, sickness, or damage, which may be sustained by me during the course of activities sponsored by GGN, partners and beneficiaries. I do further give my consent for the director or properly appointed leader of GGN, its partners and beneficiaries to secure the administration of medical treatment or medication for myself in case of an emergency. I do further agree to the performance of treatment, anesthetics, and operations deemed necessary for me in the opinion of the attending physician deemed necessary. I understand that my insurance coverage will be used as a primary coverage in the event medical intervention is needed. I hereby indemnify and hold harmless GGN, its sponsors, its partners and beneficiaries from any and all liabilities or claims made by other individuals or entities as a result of any of my actions during a GGN trip, including any litigation, expenses, attorney's fees, loss, liability, damage or cost which may occur as a result of any such claims. I understand that while I participate in any activities organized, administered or sponsored by GGN, its partners and beneficiaries, I am responsible to abide by the rules set forth by the sponsoring organization, its leaders, and supervisory personnel. Any serious infraction of the rules and/or conduct by myself can result in dismissal from the event. I, the undersigned, agree to assume the cost of such actions. I also agree to forfeit any possible refund. I understand that GGN, its partners and beneficiaries are non-profit organizations and contributions are taxdeductible with the exception of cash. GGN, its partners and beneficiaries have complete discretion and control over the use of all donated funds. All donations and payments are non-refundable and nontransferable. I, the undersigned, hereby consent to the use of any video recordings, photographs, slides, audio recordings, or any other visual or audio reproduction in which I may appear by GGN, its partners and beneficiaries. I understand that these materials may be used for promotion of GGN, its partners and beneficiaries, which includes fundraising efforts. I release GGN, its partners and beneficiaries from any liability connected with the use of my picture or voice recordings as part of any promotional or fundraising program. The information that I have given during registration to GGN, its partners and beneficiaries is accurate and true to the best of my knowledge. I certify that I am at least 18 years of age on the date hereof. I have carefully read this Waiver and Release of Liability and fully understand its contents. I am aware that this is a waiver and release of liability and I sign of my own free will. As a team member on a GGN sponsored trip, I will make every effort to maintain a positive and flexible attitude at all times. I will strive to work in unity with my team, my leaders, and the host and/or national workers. I will approach the culture and customs of the country I am visiting with respect and without complaint. I will submit to the leadership of GGN and work in whatever way is required and needed of me and will stay with the group at all times. I understand in advance that I may be asked to alter my dress to conform to local standards of modesty or to refrain from certain behaviors considered offensive in the local culture. I also understand that as a part of GGN I am required to refrain completely from the use of alcohol, tobacco in any form, any addictive drugs not given strictly for medical reasons, and any other addictive substances. I will do my best to be rightly related to everyone. I understand that appropriate action will be taken if I disregard these matters of conduct. I have read the overview and expectations and I understand that my attendance at team meetings are mandatory and that I may jeopardize my opportunity to participate in this trip if I do not comply. Carefully read through the following requirements and expectations. Sign at the bottom of the page and send to Global Gateway Network, P.O. Box 1207, Richland, WA 99352. Fundraising and Payment Requirements To ensure that participants do not fall behind in their trip payments, it is expected that each participant follows the payment schedule. If any payment or fundraising deadline is missed, you will be offered to pay the difference on that date; otherwise, your spot may be rescinded and offered to a member of our wait list. Each team member MUST pay the entirety of the trip cost by the deadline. If you fail to meet this deadline, you will be unable to participate in a GGN mission adventure, trip, or event. There are absolutely no exceptions to this policy. Upon your acceptance, you will be furnished with materials to help you raise funds. It is your responsibility to review these materials and ask your team leader to clarify anything that you do not understand. In the case of your withdrawal, restriction from participation, or failure to meet the payment requirements in a GGN adventure, trip, or event, your fundraising balance w ill be considered a donation, and will not be refunded. GGN withholds the right to not carry over your payment balance for future events. It is GGN’s desire to make it as logistically and financially easy as possible for people to experience a short-term mission adventure that will deeply impact their global vision. With that in mind, prices could vary due to currency exchange rates, airline ticket prices, etc. General Requirements Each team member must participate in every scheduled phone conference/team meeting scheduled by the team leader unless prior arrangements are made. Team members may be asked to sign a statement prior to the trip stating that they are physically able to participate. Team members must submit all required paperwork at least two weeks prior to departure, otherwise they will be dismissed from the trip.

Participants must provide proof of medical insurance and two copies of their passport at least two weeks prior to departure, otherwise they will be dismissed from the trip.
