THIS WEEK LMU will continue a string of four home matches to close out the regular season on Saturday, hosting Santa Clara at Noon ... LMU began the string with a sweep over San Francisco on Thursday of this week ... following this week's action, LMU will welcome Pepperdine to Gersten Pavilion next Saturday at Noon. LION TRACKS Sarah Sponcil connected for 14 kills on 21 swings to post a .571 hitting percentage as LMU cruised to a 25-11, 25-20, 25-19 sweep over San Francisco on Thursday ... Sponcil teamed her 14 kills with four assists, two aces and six digs, while freshman Savannah Slattery also contributed 14 kills to share the match high ... Slattery nearly collected a double-double, finishing with nine digs ... while the kill totals weren't as high, LMU's Nicky Kevorken and Erin Williams also proved efficient, as Kevorken hit .600 over five swings and Williams finished with five kills on seven attacks (.571) ... LMU's impressive clip was created off the hand of Jessie Prichard who completed the match with 35 assists ... LMU, which finished with five total team blocks, limited San Francisco to just .029 hitting in the sweep. Kate Ashman led the way for the Dons with five kills. FIFTH SET WINS ARE ELUSIVE With 10/27's setback at the hands of Pacific, the Lions are now 0-5 in five-set matches this year, including having dropped a pair after winning the first two sets (9/27 vs. #6 San Diego; 10/27 vs. Pacific) ... in addition, LMU was up 2-1 in two of the other three losses ... all five of the losses have come in WCC play, with two coming against Pacific ... LMU is also 0-3 in five-set matches played at home.
