THIS WEEK LMU will finish the regular season on Tuesday with a nationally-televised WCC match against #10 BYU that will air live on ESPNU ... first serve is scheduled for 8 p.m. ... the Lions dropped a five-set match to the Cougars earlier this year on the road after claiming a 2-1 lead in that match ... Tuesday's match will be LMU's Senior Night, honoring seniors Nicky Kevorken and Jamie Lea. LION TRACKS LMU posted a four-set, 25-22, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23, victory over Pepperdine on Saturday from Gersten Pavilion ... with the victory, LMU swept the season series with the Waves ... junior Sarah Sponcil tied for the match high in kills with 16, sharing the mark with Pepperdine’s Tarah Wylie ... Sponcil added three aces, 13 digs and one block solo to collect her 15th double-double of the year ... the three aces helped LMU to 11 on the afternoon, with freshman Jessie Prichard contributing four ... the 11 aces are tied for the eighth-most in a four-set match in LMU history ... senior Jamie Lea also had a stellar match, totaling 15 kills and five blocks to help guide LMU to 10 total team blocks ... freshman Savannah Slattery was the final Lion to finish with double-digit kills, notching 13. FIFTH SET WINS ARE ELUSIVE With 10/27's setback at the hands of Pacific, the Lions are now 0-5 in five-set matches this year, including having dropped a pair after winning the first two sets (9/27 vs. #6 San Diego; 10/27 vs. Pacific) ... in addition, LMU was up 2-1 in two of the other three losses ... all five of the losses have come in WCC play, with two coming against Pacific ... LMU is also 0-3 in five-set matches played at home.
