LMU: Started the season 3-10 for the first time since 2010 ... 2010 squad then won its next five straight and 10 of next 11 (LMU is now 3-0 since the 3-10 start this year) ... is 21-for-25 in stolen bases, and started the year 11-for-11 ... had a string of eight of nine games decided by two runs or less from 2/18 - 3/3 (2-6 in those eight) ... LMU is also 0-4 in one-run games this season ... had a 3/11 contest vs. USC postponed due to fog in T5 ... makeup game is set for 4/18 at 6 p.m. ... played consecutive extra-inning affairs on 2/18 and 2/20 for the first time since playing 10 and 9 (scheduled for 7) at UCSB and at Texas on March 4 and March 11, 2012 ... last played consecutive 10+-inning extra-inning affairs on April 30 and May 1, 2011 at San Francisco ... has played for the WCC Championship three of the last four years (losses to Pepperdine in 2014 and 2015, loss to BYU in 2017) ... last earned an NCAA berth in 2000 ... is picked to finish fifth in the WCC Preseason Coaches’ Poll ... is also picked fifth according to D1Baseball.com.

THIS WEEK: LMU will open West Coast Conference play this week, traveling to Provo, Utah to face BYU for three games beginning on Thursday at 5 p.m. PT ... live links to follow the action can be found at LMULions.com.

LION TRACKS: LMU had a Tuesday night game against USC postponed due to fog with the Trojans leading 5-3 in the top of the fifth ... because the game was unofficial and the teams were not playing under a halted game scenario, the two will start the game over on April 18 at 6 p.m. from Page Stadium ... prior to the fog-out, LMU hit .371 while posting a 3.33 ERA en route to sweeping a three-game series with Valparaiso over the weekend ... the Lions opened the series with a 10-3 win on Friday night before being rained out on Saturday to force a doubleheader on Sunday ... there, LMU captured the series win by way of a 7-4 triumph in game one ... putting the finishing touches on the sweep, LMU exploded for 15 runs on 14 hits to earn a 15-5 win in game two ... LMU featured five players who hit above .400 in the series, including Jamey Smart who went 8-for-14 (.571) with five RBI and Billy Wilson who batted .455 (5-for-11) with two triples and six RBI ... LMU starters combined for a 1.06 ERA over 17 innings of work, surrendering just two runs while limiting the Crusaders to a .203 average against.

nick sogard: Leads the team in batting average at .327 ... hit .455 (5x11) with two runs scored, two doubles and four RBI in the sweep of Valpo ... has hit safely in 11 of his 14 games played this year ... has a hit in 9 of his last 10 games overall, batting .368 (14x38) with seven runs scored, two doubles, a homer and eight RBI.

NIKO DECOLATI: Is tied for the team lead in multi-hit games with five ... leads the team in runs scored with 13 and stolen bases with six, and is tied for the team lead in doubles (3) and triples (2). JAMEY SMART: Has hit safely in 12 of 16 games this year ... batting .342 (13x38) with eight RBI over the last 10 games ... went 4-for-5 with three RBI on 3/9 vs. Valpo ... batted .571 (8x14) with a run scored, a double and five RBI in the sweep over Valpo ... tied for the team lead in RBI (11) ... returns after being named first team All-WCC in 2017.

BILLY WILSON: Was hit twice in the opener against Valpo, and has now been hit 43 times in his LMU career - tied for third-most in LMU history ... has been hit 7 times this year ... batted .455 (5x11) with four runs scored, two triples and six RBI in the sweep over Valpo ... posted a pair of doubles in the final game against Valpo on 3/11, running his career total to 13 to earn a share of seventh in LMU history ... has hit safely in 12 of 16 games this year, including posting five multi-hit games ... tied for teh team lead in doubles (3), triples (2) and RBI (11).
