Ninth-seeded LMU opens West Coast Conference Championship play at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas Thursday, March 6 against the eighth-seeded San Francisco Dons. The teams face off in the second game of the tournament’s first session, tipping off at 2:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on BYUtv, stream free of charge on theW.tv and can be heard live on KXLU 88.9 FM. TOURNAMENT QUICK HITS 2014 marks the 33rd year of the WCC Women’s Basketball Tournament and the sixth straight year that the championships are being held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas... the #9 seed Lions face the #8 seed San Francisco Dons... LMU has faced the Dons seven times in WCC tournament play, including last year when the Lions earned a 75-53 win in the second-round game... this is the third straight year that the LMU has played its first tournament game against USF... during the regular-season, USF swept the homeand-home series, a reverse of one year ago when the Lions swept the series... LMU is 13-18 all-time at the WCC Championship... the Lions’ last tournament win was the 2013 second-round victory over San Francisco... the Lions have advanced to the championship game three times, winning the WCC title in 2004 with a 61-58 final against Gonzaga.
