This will be just the 13th meeting for LMU against a team from the current SEC, with three of those coming against Texas A&M when they were with the Big 12. The Lions have two wins against the conference, defeating Alabama in the 1990 NCAA Sweet 16 and then Texas A&M in College Station in 2001. Last year the Lions hosted Ole Miss, just the second time in school history LMU hosted an SEC team. The only teams from the SEC to visit LMU are from the state of Mississippi as Mississippi State traveled to Gersten Pavilion on Dec. 19, 2007 and Ole Miss on Dec. 19, 2013. It was the 25th opponent from a “BCS” or “power” conference to visit LMU, the seventh in the last decade. The Lions hosted Florida State in 2010.

INSIDE THE LIONS • LMU bounced back from their first set-back of the season with a 76-70 win over Marist in the second round of the 2013 Paradise Jam. The Lions are 5-1 on the season, equalling the best start since the 2006-07 team, who also started 5-1. Senior Anthony Ireland has led the Lions in the two games in the Virgin Islands, going for 24 against Northern Iowa and then posting his 33rd career 20-plus point game with 25 against Marist. He has gone 19-for-21 from the free throw line in the two games. Freshman Evan Payne had his first 20-point game with 22 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field against Northern Iowa, tying for 18th for points in a game by a freshman at LMU. Fellow freshman Gabe Levin went for double figures once again in both games, making him the only freshman to start his career with six straight double figure games. In addition, he added 14 rebounds for his second straight double-double against NIU. He is the first freshman in LMU history to go for back-to-back double-doubles and his 14 boards tied Kenny Hotopp for second all-time for rebounds in a game by a freshman. He is one of just five freshman to have multiple double-doubles in their debut season (Kevin Young - 4 - ‘08-09; Orlando Johnson - 3 - ‘07-08; Andy Osborn - 3 - ‘01-02; Luther Philyaw - 2 - ‘72-73). After shooting 41.7 percent on 72 shot attempts against Northern Iowa in the opener, the Lions had two fewer field goals made (28) against Marist but took just 56 attempts to finish the game hitting 50 percent from the field. The Lions are 3-0 this season when hitting at least 50 percent of their shots. • In two games at the Paradise Jam, senior Anthony Ireland has averaged 24.5 points per contest, going 4-for-10 from three and 19-for-21 from the free throw line.
