Lions Home for Spirit Week, Waves
With road play completed for the 2013-14 regular season, LMU men’s basketball returns home for the final three games of the WCC campaign, starting with the Wells Fargo PCH Cup battle with Pepperdine on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 8 pm. The game is part of Spirit Week on the LMU campus with action starting at 6 pm with a pregame tailgate and then the game live on ESPNU and KXLU 88.9 FM. INSIDE THE LIONS • LMU men’s basketball completed play away from home last week in a pair of setbacks in the Pacific Northwest last weekend, getting 23 points from senior Anthony Ireland in a 86-67 setback to Gonzaga on senior day, moving him to third all-time in the career scoring list at LMU. Freshman Evan Payne had his fifth 20-point game in his first season with 21 in a 71-64 setback to Portland. The Lions are 11-16 overall and 3-12 in the WCC. • The Lions return home to play the final three games of the regular season and that of the careers of Anthony Ireland and Alex Osborne. It starts with Spirit Week on the LMU campus where students have a chance to win a year’s tuition with more special promotions and activities all week. At the center will be the Lions’ rematch with rival Pepperdine in the Wells Fargo PCH Cup battle. There will be a pregame tailgate party with a student toga giveaway starting at 6 pm with game time set for 8 pm on ESPNU. Halftime will feature an opportunity for a student to win a year’s tuition in addition to a special guest performing with the pep band. It starts with women’s basketball hosting San Diego on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7 pm. The week continues with LMU baseball facing Oregon on Friday with another chance for a student to win a year’s tuition with a pitching promotion. It continues through the weekend with women’s basketball senior day on Saturday at 2 pm against BYU. At halftime will be a third and final chance for free tuition for a year. The weekend ends with two more for baseball against Oregon, both games start at 1 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
