Inspirational All Nippon Airways All Nippon Airways is a Japanese airline headquartered at the Shiodome City Centre in the Shiodome area in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. It operates services to 49 destinations in Japan and 32 international routes and has about 33,000 employees as of August 2013. ANA’s main international hubs are at Narita International Airport outside Tokyo and Kansai International Airport outside Osaka. Air Transport World named ANA its 2007 ‘Airline of the Year’ while in 2006, the airline was recognised by FlightOnTime. info as the most punctual scheduled airline between London and Tokyo for the last four consecutive years, based on official British statistics. On 29 March 2013, ANA was announced as a 5-Star Airline by Skytrax. Many of its planes feature slide-forward-style reclining seats that increase overall privacy, as well as power and USB outlets even in economy. In May 2010, ANA’s total passenger traffic is up year-on-year by 7.8%, and its international services grew by 22% to 2.07 million passengers in the first five months of 2010.

Improved Garuda Indonesia After being deemed unsafe to fly into the European Union from 2007 to 2009, Garuda Indonesia has experienced a dramatic turnaround in recent years. The Indonesia flag carrier has undertaken extensive fleet renewal and service-improvement measures to regain the trust of both fliers and safety regulators. Economy fliers have raved about the airline’s comfortable seats and selection of Southeast Asian cuisine. Garuda is today a full-fledged member of the Skyteam global airline alliance. Named after the mythical giant bird Garuda of Hinduism and Buddhist mythology, Garuda Indonesia is headquartered at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, near Jakarta. The airline operates flights to a number of destinations in Southeast Asia, East Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Australia. Garuda is currently the official partner of Liverpool FC. In 2010, the Centre for Asia-Pacific Aviation (CAPA)

named Garuda Indonesia as Asia’s leading service quality airline. Skytrax awarded the airline the World’s Most Improved in 2012. Roy Morgan survey named Garuda Indonesia the Best International Airline surpassing several distinguished airlines, such as: Singapore Airlines, Emirates and Air New Zealand with 91% of respondents gave a ‘very satisfied’ rating. In July 2012, Garuda Indonesia was recognised as the World’s Best Regional Airline by the global airline review and ranking consultancy, Skytrax. In 2013, Skytrax awarded Garuda Indonesia the world’s best economy class for its service and product at the Paris Airshow 2013. In July 2014, Skytrax also awarded Garuda Indonesia ‘The World’s Best Cabin Staff’ recognition. The award was based on a global customer satisfaction survey conducted on 18 million passengers between the period of August 2013 and May 2014.

Top AfricAn Airlines South Africa Airways

The premier carrier of South Africa, it is publicly owned by the government. The airline has been in existence since 1994, when it was formed. Headquartered in OR Tambo International Airport, the airline has a fleet size of 57 and operates in 38 destinations. At the 2011 Skytrax World Airline Awards held in the French Air and Space Museum at the Paris Air Show, South African Airways was named the Best Airline Africa. It is also listed as one of the safest airline according to ‘attainment of IOSA Certification, number of accidents per flight and fatalities per passenger kilometres.’ It started a major rebranding process in 1997 through 2005; this also led to its joining the Star Alliance, making it the first African airline to join the world’s

biggest airline alliance.

Air Seychelles

Air Seychelles is the national airline of the Seychelles, with its head office on the property of Seychelles International Airport on the island of Mahé. It operates inter-island services and international flights. Its main base is Seychelles International Airport. The airline is currently 40% owned by Etihad Airways.

Air Mauritius

Owned by the government, Air Mauritius of Mauritius, the airline operates out of its main base in Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport. The airline has an important standing in the European, African and Indian Ocean regional market; operating just off the southeast coast of Africa, in the Indian Ocean the airline is

headquartered at the Air Mauritius Centre, Port Louis, Mauritius. With a fleet size of 12 and operations in 26 destinations, Air Mauritius also performs a range of services for international airlines and regarded as one of the safest airlines in Africa – this was confirmed by Aviation Safety Network as the airline has not suffered any accident or incident leading to fatality. The airline also placed second at the 2011 World Airline Awards, but retained the “Indian Ocean Leading Airline Prize” for the seventh year it a row in 2011.

Ethiopian Airlines

Ethiopian Airlines is a wholly-government owned airlines and serves as the country’s flag carrier. Headquartered in Bole International Airport, Ethiopian Airlines is listed as second in the top ten safest

airlines in Africa ranking. A proud member of the Star alliance since December, 2011, Ethiopian Airlines operates with a fleet of 42 passenger and 6 freighter planes and offers services to 62 international and 17 domestic destinations. The airline has 3 stars from a five-star ranking criteria by Skytrax.

Kenya Airways

The largest airline of Kenya, Kenya Airways was founded in 1977 and has its headquarters at the hub of East African air travel – Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The airline was privatised in 1996 and is currently a public-private entity, with private shares trading on the NSE, DSE and USE. Kenya Airways has a fleet size of 33 and offers services to 56 destinations.
