TheAmisharemostwidelyknownfortheirplainwayof dressing,useofhorseandbuggies,andtheirstrongtiesto agriculturetoprovidefortheirfamiliesandcommunity.The Amisharealsoknownforthemodernluxuriesthattheyoften livewithout,suchaselectricity,phones,andairconditioning. Theyare very conser vativeChristianswhoputtheirfaithand community overindividualism.
Thereare,however, varyingdegreesof ‘plainness’intheAmish Community-someAmisharemoremodernanduseelectric andphones,while“Old Order”Amisharemore restrictivein theirallowanceofmodernconveniences. Similarly,thewaysthat
