Remote monitoring of pacemakers is the new technolo that everyone should be made aware of.
People who have pacemakers placed in their bodies have to visit the doctors once in 3 or 6 months for regular checkups. This is called a clinical checkup. However, for patients who cannot come to the hospital to complete this routine checkup due to various reasons, remote monitoring of pacemakers would be very useful.
How does remote monitoring of pacemakers work?
This can work in two modes. In hands-free mode, you can connect the pacemaker to the smartphone through Bluetooth. You just have to download an application on your smartphone to do this.
The other mode is to use VAND. This device will be provided by the pacemaker company. It can be either battery-operated or using power adapter. For a VAND to operate a
telecommunication system is very important. Only if 3G or 4G network is available, remote monitoring can be done.
The data stored in pacemakers will be transmitted to the VAND or the smartphone from which it can be transmitted to the cardiology doctors. This transmission can be done daily or on a timeline of your choice.
