Get the patient to a nearby hospital that offers basic emergency care for snake bites as soon as possible.

The patient should not panic. Panic will increase heart rate which in turn would make the venom spread faster in the patient’s body.

The bite area should be immobilised. For example, if the bite is on the hand, the patient should not move the hand.

The patient should not walk.

Do not cut, suck or place ice on the bite area.

Do not tie the area near the bite. This will stop the blood supply to the limbs or the particular area. If you have tied, let the doctor remove it.

Do not waste time finding the type of snake. Immediately rush to the hospital.
