MEET OUR STAFF Let us answer your fitness questions! Ruth Thompson Wellness Supervisor and Certified Personal Trainer Ruth Thompson has been a Sparrow Clinton Associate for more than 30 years. Ruth enjoys traveling and staying active as well as working with Wellness clients to improve their health and fitness. When she is not at the Wellness Center, Ruth spends quality time with friends, family and her three adult children and three grandchildren. Caleb Costerisan A student at Grand Valley State University, Caleb Costerisan has been a wellness aide for more than six years. His interests outside the workplace include exercise, movies, jazz, reading and travel. Caleb is an Education and English major at GVSU. Nate Simon Nate Simon graduated from Lansing Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice. He works early morning and evening hours at the Wellness Center. In his free time, Nate enjoys sports, coaching basketball and hanging out with family and friends. Tyler Vandemark Tyler Vandemark works full time in Sparrow Clinton Hospital Emergency Services as a nurse. He also is a volunteer fire fighter and covers an occasional shift at the SCH Wellness Center. A newlywed, Tyler enjoys sports and working out. Ciara Adkins A student at Lansing Community College, Ciara Adkins is pursuing a degree in nursing. In addition to hours worked at the Wellness Center, she volunteers in Sparrow Pediatric Services. Her other interests include scrapbooking, biking and travel. Alex Seyfried Our newest member, Alex Seyfried, also attends Lansing Community College. She is interested in becoming a nurse. Alex enjoys spending time with family and walking her dog, Sophie.

We offer several Wellness Specials throughout the year, but our most popular program, the New Year’s Special, starts December 15 and runs through January 31.

Get Fit, Feel Great! Our Aerobics schedule offers12 classes a week. What could be better than that? Get into “mint condition” with our motivational instructors. Jean Munger brings energy and expertise to your workouts Monday and Wednesday with noon and evening classes. Start with Low Impact at noon. Return for Pilates at 5:10pm, and then stay for her 6:15pm Step class. Dee Blank also offers Step classes on Tuesday mornings at 5:45am as well as Zumba at 5:10pm and Pump It Up at 6:15pm. Yoga classes are held Thursday evenings at 5:10pm and Saturday mornings at 9:30am, following Dee’s 8:15am Step & Pump class. Teresa Zwemmer serves as our super substitute instructor for several exercise classes Step, Pump & Zumba $5 for walk-ins Punch Cards are $32 with 8 punches Yoga & Pilates classes $8 for walk-ins. Sparrow Clinton Rehab & Wellness Center offers CPR and First Aid classes on the first Saturday of every month. Our instructor is certified through the American Heart Association. If you or your group is interested, please call to register.

Get Fit, Feel Great! Weight Loss Challenge The Michigan Athletic Club teams up with Sparrow Clinton Wellness to bring a weight loss program to the St. Johns area. Sign up yourself or your staff for our eightweek Weight Loss Challenge. This program includes nutritional, cardiovascular and strength training advice from experienced fitness professionals. Personal Training Need a little motivation, help with your exercise form or just a little expert advice? Ruth Thompson, Certified Personal Trainer, is available by appointment to coach you on your fitness program. Coaching services are priced by the hour, half hour or by the package. No Gain Holiday Contest It’s time for our No Gain Holiday Contest. Throughout the holiday season, we challenge you to not gain weight. Cost of the contest is $5 to sign up. Participants weigh in on November 16-19 and return after the holidays, January 4-7, to weigh in again. If you did not gain weight, the Wellness Center returns your $5. If you do gain weight or fail to return for the January weigh in, your $5 is given to the program participant who actually lost the most weight over the holiday season. Healthy Holidays!
