LETTER

COME DINE WITH

A dozen Santa Fe chefs on the cover are declaring: Beer....It’s What’s for Dinner! Indeed, the craft beer movement is not only winning over serious chefs but serious oenophiles as well. Local Flavor has a distinguished circle of wine writers who have quenched the thirst of wine aficionados for two decades now, but local and regional craft breweries and small-batch distillers are increasingly gaining a seat at the table—the dinner table. We’re excited about being a part of this movement,

and what the heck—it’s also the Outdoor Issue this month and nothing says summer like enjoying a cold beer with friends. So, kick back, pick the beer dinner of your choice to go to this month and enjoy our lineup of outdoor things to do. The first step out the door for Local Flavor is to head for the hills and hide a treasure for our readers! It’s time for a serious game of hide and seek in the high desert—so grab your smartphone, put on your hiking boots and step into the world of geocaching. Writer Melyssa Holik braved the last snowfall of this blustery spring and hid our very own cache, so join in the fun and see what’s at N 35° 43.312’ W 105° 53.976’. There’s more hidden treasure at one of our favorite hikes, Tent Rocks. But the treasure here is one you hold in your heart—and writer Gail Snyder leads the way. We also managed to get in a little camping... with little ones. This is a story all parents (and grandparents) will want to read. Camping with kids is the greatest gift you can give them and yourself as well. And don’t forget to bring the fishing gear! This month starts our online fishing report provided by legendary angler Taylor Streit of Taos Fly Shop. It’s late spring and he’s loving the Cimarron, so don’t miss his fishing tips at localflavormagazine.com. See you at Bike & Brew—for us, it’s the official start of a great summer!

Welcoming our friends from Sanbusco...
