Firstly, we’d like to thank all our suppliers and customers, we’ve all had some tough times especially these last few years and your support has been invaluable and our relationships have gone from strength to strength. Working together in partnership helps us all nurture and grow our businesses.
Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited to celebrate both our heritage and our future. We’re proud to unveil the updated thistle logo for Lochcarron of Scotland–a modern refresh of the design first introduced in the early 1980s. We look forward to the thistle enhancing the Lochcarron brand as it did back then.
This year, we’ve also made significant strides toward a more sustainable and forward-thinking future. As part of our Net Zero initiative, we installed 356 solar panels on site, enhancing our environmental efforts by creating up to 45% of our power usage from our own panels. We expanded our production unit to include new more suitable storage for our yarns and optimised our head office space to allow us to expand our retail store. We can now offer more from our own collections, complemented by products from other Scottish manufacturers.
While 2025 will undoubtedly bring new challenges which we will strive to overcome, we’re ready to embrace new opportunities and build on the successes we’ve achieved.

A Fly Plaid is usually worn over the left shoulder and harks back to the days when ‘kilts’ were less structured, more akin to a length of cloth where part of this was thrown over the shoulder. The modern Fly Plaid gives a spectacular lift to your look.
The Mini Fly Plaid is a smaller more compact accessory due to the pleating. It is a little more low key than the classic Fly Plaid yet still giving a colourful lift to your outfit with an authentic nod to historical dress.

Our medium and heavier weight BraeriachTM and StromeTM qualities are suitable for Heavy Domestic use, such as upholstery, from stock.
We also offer a bespoke treatment service to upgrade our BraeriachTM and StromeTM quality to Severe Contract use (Crib 5) if required.

Our lightweight fabric is available in a collection of around 500 authentic tartans, estate style checks and solid colours. These are generally available from stock or if not currently in stock they are likely to be in the process of being made to replenish stocks.
With a nice drape and handle the ReiverTM fabric has a wide application of uses. It has been used successfully in many clothing types from jackets to ties, skirts to dresses, head wear and even shoes. In traditional Scottish wear it is successful in sashes, cummerbunds, capes and as a lightweight kilt cloth.
Additionally it works well in interiors as cushions, curtains and light use upholstery.

Tartan Design Service
As the world’s leading manufacturer of tartan, we are all passionate about the tartan we design and make here in Scotland. Tartan is the thread woven through our history and is the story of our future. With our rich textile heritage and contemporary design capabilities it is very fitting that we offer a bespoke service for tartan design. Inspired by your tartan brief, our in-house design team will create tartan patterns as prints generated through our CAD system. These designs can then be sent to you electronically or in print format for approval. Alternatively a more interesting option for you would be to visit the mill and work directly with our skilled design team and use this as an opportunity to see just how we dye, warp, weave and prepare our fabrics and accessories ready for our customers. We can also guide you through the process of registering your tartan with The Scottish Register of Tartan ensuring its place in tartan history.
As well as creating your own tartan, you can have your design converted into a wide choice of fabrics and accessories made here at our mill in Scotland.
