ABSTRACT
The urban potential of Tempelhofer Feld is striking, mentioning its current position within the city and the huge open and undefined spaces it represents. Therefore it is unequally painful to see it having been taken hostage, where no real change or improvement is allowed.
The vast scale and intriguing history makes Tempelhofer Feld a special but sensitive place within the city. The protest against change somehow represents the shift, where instead of powerful regimes, the people have had their final say being honoured. At the same time, these same people are in desperate need for adequate housing in a city where housing prices are skyrocketing, with an estimated shortage of 200.000 dwellings.
However Tempelhofer Feld’s connections to the city seem adequate, the vast area of open space is isolated at the same time.
